Time 2h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
1 4½ lb boneless fully cooked ham, at room temperature 1 hour prior to baking
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Score fat on top of the ham in a crosshatch pattern.
  • Put ham on a rack in a large roasting pan.
  • Cover ham with parchment paper, then cover the roasting pan with foil tightly.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes per pound, or per your ham's instructions.
  • Melt the butter with fresh thyme then set aside to allow flavors to mingle.
  • Meanwhile, boil the cider vinegar in a small saucepan until reduced to 1 tablespoon.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in honey, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme butter.
  • Let honey glaze stand until ham has baked.
  • Discard foil and parchment paper from ham.
  • If there is no liquid in the roasting pan, add 1 cup water (liquid will prevent glaze from burning in the pan and will become a delicious pan sauce).
  • Brush ham with half of the honey glaze, then bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
  • Brush with remaining glaze and bake until glaze is deep golden-brown and ham is heated through, about 30 minutes more.
  • Remove from the oven and place the ham on a cutting board. Let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes prior to carving.
  • Pour the liquid from the roasting pan into a bowl. Serve on the side to spoon over slices of ham, if desired. Enjoy.

3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons chopped thyme
1 (12-to 14-pounds) boneless or semiboneless fully cooked ham at room temperature 1 hour
1/4 cup cider vinegar

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

SPICY HONEY-GLAZED HAM

Spicy Honey-Glazed Ham image

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 4h

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 8-pound fully cooked bone-in half ham (shank or butt)
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1 cup honey
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup dijon mustard
1/2 cup whole-grain mustard
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons hot sauce
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Bring the ham to room temperature 1 hour before baking.

Steps:

  • Position an oven rack in the lowest position; preheat to 350 degrees F. Trim off any skin from the ham, leaving a 1/4-inch layer of fat. Score the fat with a sharp knife in a 1-inch crosshatch pattern without cutting through to the meat. Place the ham flat-side down in a roasting pan and add the chicken broth to the pan. Cover with foil and bake 1 1/2 hours.
  • Meanwhile, make the glaze: Whisk the honey, brown sugar, mustards, vinegar, hot sauce, thyme and red pepper flakes in a medium bowl. Remove 3/4 cup of the glaze to a separate bowl and set aside for serving. Remove the ham from the oven, discard the foil and brush with about one-quarter of the remaining glaze. Continue baking, brushing with the glaze and the pan juices every 30 minutes, until the ham is a deep reddish-brown and a thermometer inserted into the center registers 140 degrees F, 1 to 1 1/2 more hours. (Add 1/2 cup water to the pan if the juices dry out.)
  • Transfer the ham to a cutting board and let rest 20 minutes before slicing. Serve with the reserved glaze.

With just three ingredients, you can make Trisha Yearwood's Baked Ham with Brown Sugar Honey Glaze recipe from Trisha's Southern Kitchen on Food Network.

Provided by Trisha Yearwood

Categories     main-dish

Time 6h25m

Yield 15 to 20 servings

Number Of Ingredients 3

18 to 20-pound smoked ham, water added, ham hock removed
One 16-ounce box light brown sugar
1 cup (8-ounce jar) clover honey

Steps:

  • Adjust the oven racks to accommodate a large covered roasting pan. Fit the pan with a shallow rack. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Unwrap the ham and rinse it in cold water. Place it on the rack in the roasting pan. Cover the pan with the lid and bake for half the estimated cooking time (Total cooking time is about 20 minutes per pound.) Halfway through the estimated cooking time, add the sugar and honey to a saucepan, cooking over medium heat until smooth and sugar is dissolved. Pour the mixture over the ham and continue baking the ham, basting occasionally with the drippings in the roaster.
  • Check for doneness at the end of the estimated cooking time by inserting a meat thermometer at a meaty point (not into fat or touching the bone). It should register 160 degrees F.
  • Allow the ham to stand for 15 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to set.

HONEY GLAZED HAM

Honey Glazed Ham image

We were on a vacation with the administrative chef of Quebec's famous Chateau Frontenac and upon returning to the chalet, he made this recipe to which I assisted and helped cutting the vegetables. It tasted very good and to my surprise it had kept its original colour (rosy and tender). I have been making it ever since (that was 15 years ago).

Provided by mozarth622

Categories     Ham

TANGY HONEY GLAZED HAM

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham image

I came up with the glaze for this ham using ingredients on hand and it's the best I've ever tasted. If you have any glaze left over, you can add it to the pan drippings with a little flour or cornstarch and make a nice sauce to accompany the meat. Use the bone and ham trimmings to make soup afterwards.

This ham tastes very much like the famous honey baked ham but costs much less, and there's no need to fight the crowds at holiday time. You can even buy the ham presliced to make it easier and more like the original. It is very good. (I do this while preparing the rest of the meal in the kitchen so that I don't forget to baste!)
