POLYNESIAN SWEET AND SOUR HOT DOGS WITH RICE
Hot dogs are the unsung heroes of dinnertime, and here's another recipe that proves it! Toss pineapple pieces, bits of bell pepper and sliced hot dogs in a homemade sweet and sour sauce, then serve over rice for a dinner that's fast, cheap and supremely satisfying.

Steps:
- Drain pineapple chunks; reserve juice. In medium bowl, stir juice with brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce and garlic powder.
- In 12-inch nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Cook hot dogs in oil 3 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently, until lightly browned. Remove from skillet.
- Add pineapple juice mixture, drained pineapple chunks and chopped bell peppers to hot skillet. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to medium-low. Cook uncovered 5 to 6 minutes to reduce mixture slightly.
- In small bowl, beat cornstarch and water with whisk. Add to skillet; stir constantly until mixture is thick and bubbling. Add hot dogs back into skillet and cook 4 to 5 minutes or until heated through. Serve over hot rice.

TURKEY HOT DOGS SWEET AND SOUR
Turkey dogs, turkey sausage, hot dogs of any style. can be used in this tantalizing dinner dish.My kids loved this when they were small and still ask for it when there are hotdogs left after a BBQ. Your kids will probable love this too. This is filled will vegetable , apple, and a sauce to die for!

Steps:
- 1. Cut up hotdogs in bite size pieces in a medium bowl sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. Set aside. In a 12-inch skillet melt the cinnamon butter spread. Brown and glaze the hotdogs in the cinnamon butter until starting to brown. Add the apple pieces, bell pepper and onion into the same skillet. Cook over medium heat stirring until coated and caramelized; about 5-7 minutes.
- 2. Stir in the garlic, brown sugar, vinegar,tomato puree and sweet and sour sauce. Cook until heated through. Serve over hot cooked rice.
SWEET AND SOUR HOT DOG BITES
I know, I know. This sounds like a silly recipe for someone who doesn't know anything about cooking or food. BUT I got this recipe from a friend. She was serving it at an open house and everyone LOVED them and wanted more. Its just too easy.

- 1. Mix together mustard and jelly. Heat gradually while stirring to mix completely.
- 2. Cook hot dogs in water. Slice hot dogs into 4-6 pieces each. Add hot dog pieces to sauce and cook on warm for 10-15 minutes. Serve hot as an appetizer.
SWEET AND SOUR HOT DOGS---SIMPLE
A lady used to bring this to a church covered dish supper. Every time it was gone by the first time people went through. All the kids loved it, especially my granddaughter. So, I got the recipe from her and was amazed how easy it was. Only three ingredients. You could use this for tiny meatballs too along with the hot dogs.

- In a saucepan, put the jelly and mustard on a low heat till it is melted and mixed well.
- Cook the hot dogs and if using regular size ones--slice into pieces and add to the mixture; if using mini hot dog cook a few minutes and use whole.

No need to have skewers for these! Leftover batter can be refrigerated and used for a couple of days. One son likes them better made with the leftover batter. I have never cooked a whole pack of hot dogs in one session, so I don't know how long that would take. Cooking time is estimated for one serving. Recipe from The Southern Living Cookbook. Update: there was a question about the two listed amounts of sugar. The recipe is correct as shown. I put 1 T plus 1 tsp of sugar in the batter.

- In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, cornmeal, and both amounts of the sugar.
- In a small bowl, combine the egg and buttermilk.
- Add wet ingredients to the dry ones.
- Add 1/4 cup buttermilk if batter is too stiff.
- Immerse 6 or 8 hot dog pieces at the time in the batter.
- In a small skillet, heat about 1 inch of oil to medium high.
- Use a fork or tongs to take hot dog pieces out of batter and place carefully into hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides. You might have to adjust the temperature of the oil to keep it cooking but not burning.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Continue frying in small batches.

- In a bowl, mix the flour, egg yolks, salt, oil, and beer.
- Whisk until smooth.
- Let rest as long as possible - even overnight in the fridge.
- When ready to assembly the hot dogs, whisk the egg whites to stiff medium peaks in a bowl.
- Carefully fold the egg whites into the beer batter.
- Split each hot dog in half but DO NOT cut all the way through.
- Spread mustard in the cut and then stuff with cheese.
- Do not overstuff, but make sure there is an ample amount of cheese in each hot dog.
- Cut each hot dog into four chunks, and roll each piece in flour - then dip in the beer batter.
- Deep fry the chunks in oil that has reached 350 degrees.
- Cook until golden brown, approximately 3-5 minutes.
- Serve with extra mustard, ketchup, and relish.
