LEFTOVER HAM AND CHEESE PIZZA



Leftover Ham and Cheese Pizza image

This leftover ham pizza can be made using store-bought ingredients, but just remember to adjust cooking time accordingly to your dough's instructions!

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 cups leftover ham (chopped)
1 batch pizza dough ((store bought or homemade))
cup pizza sauce ((store bought or homemade))
8 ounces fresh mozzarella (sliced)
1 large onion (sliced)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 475F. Lightly dust your counter-top in flour.
  • Using a rolling pin, roll out your pizza dough until desired size and thickness is reached. Carefully transfer to pizza pan and adjust accordingly.
  • Spread your sauce to about 1-inch from the edge of the pizza dough. That uncovered part will be your crust. Evenly spread out the ham and onion. Finish off with mozzarella cheese.
  • Place into oven and bake for 15-17 minutes, or until mozzarella cheese is nicely browned and crust is golden.
  • Allow to cool slightly before cutting!

My family really enjoyed these little pizzas. When I made these pizzas I used chopped ham purchased in the deli. I also added some crushed pineapple to half of the pizzas. I got this recipe from Tops Market. Courtesy of National Pork Board. This is a perfect recipe for beginner cooks. Kids of all ages will enjoy making their own mini pizzas. Serve individually as a snack or appetizer or serve 2 for a complete meal.

7 1/2 ounces refrigerated biscuit dough
nonstick spray coating
1/4 cup pizza sauce
2/3 cup ham steak, diced
2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
2/3 cup chopped green pepper

Steps:

  • Spray cookie sheet with nonstick spray. Separate biscuits and flatten on cookie sheet, leaving space between so edges do not touch.
  • Spread 1 teaspoon pizza sauce on each biscuit. Top each biscuit with 1 tablespoon of diced ham, 1 tablespoon green pepper and 1 tablespoon shredded cheese.
  • Bake in a 400 oven for 8-10 minutes or until biscuits are light brown and cheese is melted.

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first four ingredients. Spread over bagels. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. , Broil 4-6 in. from the heat for 2-4 minutes or until lightly browned and bubbly.

8 ounces extra-sharp Cheddar, grated
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons cream cheese
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried mustard
1 teaspoon maple syrup
1/2 sweet onion, grated
Half a 4-ounce jar pimentos, diced
1/2 recipe Phyllo Dough (an 18-by-36-inch piece), recipe follows
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
6 slices uncured deli ham
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
Generous pinch fine sea salt
1/2 cup room-temperature water
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 large egg, at room temperature

Steps:

  • For the pimento cheese: Combine the Cheddar, mayonnaise, cream cheese, Worcestershire, mustard, maple syrup, onion and pimentos in a medium bowl and mix until fully incorporated. Reserve half the mixture in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator to serve with crackers or another use. Put aside the remaining mixture while you prepare the dough.
  • For the snacks: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Brush the phyllo with butter. Halve the piece lengthwise, then cut each piece crosswise into thirds. You will have 6 pieces total.
  • Place a slice of ham at the short end of a piece of phyllo. Spoon one-sixth of the remaining pimento cheese down the side of the ham closest to the phyllo. Fold in the excess phyllo along the long edges and then roll the the phyllo into a cigar, starting at the end with the ham and pimento cheese. Brush the phyllo with butter as you roll.
  • Place the phyllo cigars a few inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until golden brown and crispy, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. In a liquid measuring cup, whisk together the water, oil and egg. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and using a wooden spoon or a Danish whisk, stir the mixture until a shaggy dough comes together.
  • Transfer the dough to a work surface and knead until the dough is a bit smoother. Then "slap" the dough and turn it over and knead it until smooth; this could take between 5 to 10 minutes. You can also mix the dough in a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment. This takes about 10 minutes. Cover the dough in plastic wrap and allow to rest a room temperature for 2 hours.
  • Cover a table (at least 36 inches square) with a clean tablecloth. Sprinkle the cloth all over with flour. Gently press the dough into a rough 12-by-12-inch square and then gently pull the dough into a large square, about 36 inches. Use a pair of clean kitchen scissors to cut the thicker edges off the perimeter and discard them. Allow the dough to rest to dry out just a bit, about 5 minutes.

Steps:

  • Spread the sauce over the pizza crust.
  • Combine cheeses in a small bowl, and scatter a little over the sauce.
  • Scatter the ham and onion over the pizza, then arrange the tomato.
  • Sprinkle with basil, and top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake at 180C for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly, and base is cooked.

4 slices black forest ham, chopped
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for quick clean up.
  • Place the pita breads onto the baking sheet.
  • Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the pitas.
  • Top evenly with ham and the two cheeses.
  • Season the pizza with salt, pepper and the oregano, if using.
  • Drizzle with a little olive oil.
