Steps:

  • 01 - Heat oven to 220C / 420F. 02 - Spread the Sausages in a roasting tin and cook them for 20-25 minutes turning them from time to time, until golden and well cooked through. 03 - Meanwhile, fry the Onions in a little bit of Oil over a high heat until almost softened and browning. Add a teaspoon of sugar to caramelised it.04 - Stir in the Sweet Chilli Sauce, Tomato Purée and Black Pepper, and cook for an extra 5 minutes. 05 - Split the Hot Dog Buns, add a spoonful of the Sweet Chilli Onions, top with a Sausage, then a spoonful more Onions.

Sweet chili sauce 4 tbsp
Tomato puree 2 tbsp
Hot dog buns 4

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 430 °F.
  • Place the sausages in a roasting dish in an even layer.
  • Cook the sausages in the oven for 20-25 mins, turning occasionally until golden and completely cooked.
  • Place a drizzle of oil in a pan and fry the onions over a high heat until almost soft and starting to brown.
  • Stir in 4 tablespoons of sweet chili sauce and 2 tablespoons of tomato purée and cook for 1 more minute. Season to taste.
  • Cut the hot dog buns in half and add a spoonful of the caramelized onions to each one. Top each with a cooked sausage and another spoonful of onions.
  • Serve immediately.

Extra-virgin olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 pound lean ground beef
1 medium jar ketchup, about 2 1/2 cups
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 all-beef hot dogs (recommended: Ball Park)
4 hot dog rolls
1/2 cup grated Cheddar

Steps:

  • Put a skillet over medium heat and drizzle in a 2-count of olive oil. When the oil gets hazy, add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring, until it is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with the back of a spoon, and cook until nicely browned, about 10 more minutes. Stir in the ketchup, chili powder, and mustard and simmer for 15 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  • While the chili is cooking, get the grill going. Place a large grill pan on 2 burners over medium-high heat or preheat an outdoor gas or charcoal barbecue and get it very hot. Take a few paper towels and fold them several times to make a thick square. Blot a small
  • amount of oil on the paper towel. Then carefully and quickly wipe the hot grates of the grill to make a nonstick grilling surface.
  • Bring a pot of water up to a simmer and parboil the dogs for about 5 minutes. Take them out of the water, pat them dry, and grill them just long enough to mark them. (That'll give them a grilled flavor too.) Brush the insides of the rolls with olive oil and lay them face down on the grill; cook until toasty. To serve, put a dog in each roll and top with the chili and some Cheddar.

One 1.48-ounce packet chili seasoning
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
8 beef hot dogs
8 hot dog buns
Shredded Cheddar, to serve
Chopped white onion, to serve
Spicy Fries, recipe follows
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
One 26-ounce bag frozen crispy French fries

Steps:

  • In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef stirring constantly to break up all the clumps into fine pieces.
  • Add the chili sauce, chili seasoning, water, Worcestershire, mustard and onion powder. Bring to a boil, lower the heat, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, boil the hot dogs according to package instructions. Place hot dogs in buns, top with chili, cheddar cheese, and chopped white onion. Serve with Spicy Fries.
  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  • Combine taco seasoning and salt; set aside.
  • On baking sheets make a single layer of French fries. Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes and season with the spicy salt mixture. Serve with chili dogs.

1 (398 ml) can beans (i like the maple syrup type, might only be in Canada)
1/2 cup sugar
1 lb hamburger (I use lean)
1/4 cup chili powder

12 hot dog buns
1 cup grated cheese (I like cheddar)

Steps:

  • Brown off the hamburger, drain and put aside.
  • Pour stewed tomato into pot, blend with hand blender until smooth.
  • Add hamburger, beans, sugar and chili powder.
  • Stir together.
  • Simmer on medium low for 1 hour.
  • After chili is cooked cook the hot dogs.
  • Put some chili in hot dog bun with cheese, then insert hot dog, then top with more chili and cheese and enjoy.

1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and thinly sliced

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
½ sweet yellow onion, chopped
½ red bell pepper, chopped
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic granules
2 teaspoons paprika
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • To make chili, brown ground beef in 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large saucepan for about 10 minutes over medium heat.
  • Add onion and red bell pepper, stirring well. Add tomato sauce and seasonings, stirring well.
  • Allow mixture to bubble for about 10 minutes, then reduce heat to simmer and cook at least 30 minutes.
  • To make hot dogs, cook on your grill or on a grill pan until just seared on the outside.
  • Meanwhile, toast buns in a 400-degree oven for about 10 minutes, taking care not to brown.
  • Swipe each bun with mustard, top with chili as desired, followed by grated cheese, onion and, if you're brave, jalapenos.
  • If you'd like the cheese all melty, place chili dogs on a foil-lined cookie sheet and run under a hot broiler for 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese bubbles.

1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 cup water
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Hot dogs and buns
Optional: Diced onion, sliced pickles and shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink, 8-10 minutes, breaking into crumbles; drain. Stir in tomato paste; cook and stir 3 minutes. Stir in next 13 ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, until thickened, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve sauce over hot dogs in buns.   • Combine the refried beans, chilies, 1/4 cup water, and optional cumin in a medium saucepan. Cook gently until heated through.
  • Warm the hot dogs according to package directions. If you'd like, warm the rolls (not necessary if they are fresh).
