Easy Puff Pastry Apple Tart image

With only 4 ingredients, these quick, easy, and super delicious puff pastry apple tarts will be ready in a matter of minutes.

Provided by Shiran

Number Of Ingredients 4

Frozen and thawed puff pastry ((one store-bought package is enough))
2-3 apples of your choice ((I like Granny Smith))
3 tablespoons (40 g) granulated sugar
3 tablespoons (40 g) unsalted butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F/205C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Cut puff pastry into two long strips, each approximately 9x30 cm (3.5x12 inch).
  • Peel apples, cut them in half through the core, and remove the core using a melon baller or a knife. Place the halved apples cut side down, and slice into very thin pieces.
  • Arrange apples on the pastry, overlapping each other slightly, leaving a bit of a border around the sides. For each tart, sprinkle half of the sugar and gently brush with half of the melted butter.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, until edges are golden brown. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with ice cream if you like.

APPLE TARTS

Categories     dessert

Time 1h

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package (2 sheets) frozen puff pastry, defrosted
4 small (6 ounce) Granny Smith apples
3/4 cup sugar
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) cold unsalted butter, small-diced
3/4 cup apricot jelly or warm sieved apricot jam
3 tablespoons Calvados, rum, or water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line 2 sheet pans with parchment paper.
  • Cut each sheet of puff pastry into 4 squares. Divide the pastry between the prepared sheet pans and refrigerate while you prepare the apples.
  • Peel the apples and cut them in half through the stem. Remove the stems and cores with a sharp knife and a melon baller. Slice the apples crosswise in 1/4-inch-thick slices. Place overlapping slices of apples diagonally across the pastry and place one slice of apple on each side of the arranged slices. Sprinkle the apples evenly with the sugar and dot them with the butter.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, until the pastry is browned and the edges of the apples start to brown. Don't worry! The apple juices will burn in the pan but the tarts will be fine! When the tarts are done, heat the apricot jelly together with the Calvados until bubbly and brush the apples and pastry completely with the jelly mixture. Loosen the tarts with a metal spatula so they don't stick to the paper. Allow to cool and serve warm or at room temperature.

PUFF PASTRY TART

Puff Pastry Tart image

Provided by Kelsey Nixon

Time 35m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

All-purpose flour, for dusting
1 sheet (1/2 a 17.3-ounce package) all-butter frozen puff pastry, thawed
3 cups fruit, nuts and/or cheese (ideal for roasting)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or other spices
1/4 cup warmed honey, if desired
Puff Pastry Variations, recipes follow

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease with nonstick cooking spray.;
  • Sprinkle the cutting board with flour. Roll-out the creases.;
  • Unfold the pastry onto parchment paper. Using a fork, pierce a 1/2-inch border around the edge of the puff pastry. Prick the center of the pastry as well, about 10 times all over.
  • Arrange the fruit, nuts, and cheese on top of the pastry in a uniform manner, avoiding the border. Brush the fruit with the melted butter and top with the cinnamon and sugar. Bake 15 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and beginning to puff.
  • If desired, brush the honey over the fruit and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
  • Puff Pastry Variations:
  • Apricot Plum Tart: Cut 2 plums and apricots into 1/4-inch thick slices. Arrange on top of puff pastry and brush with melted apricot preserves rather than honey.
  • Rhubarb Tart: Thinly slice 8-ounces rhubarb stalks on the diagonal and marinate in 1 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup sugar for 10 minutes. Strain the rhubarb, reserving the juices. Arrange the rhubarb slices on top of the puff pastry. Sprinkle with white sugar. While the pastry bakes, reduce the rhubarb juices until it becomes a syrupy glaze. When the pastry finishes, brush the pastry with the glaze.
  • Pear, Pecan and Blue Cheese Tart: Slice 3 cups Bartlett pears and place on the puff pastry. Top with 1/2 cup chopped pecans. After brushing on the honey, top with 1/3 cup blue cheese crumbles.

APPLE TART

Apple Tart image

Showcase autumn's quintessential fruit -- the apple -- with this tart.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Dessert & Treats Recipes     Pie & Tarts Recipes

Yield Makes one 12-by-14 inch Tart

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 sheet frozen puff pastry (from a 17.3 ounce package), preferably Dufour, thawed
All-purpose flour, for surface
1 large egg, lightly beaten, for egg wash
1/2 cup fresh or good-quality applesauce
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into thin wedges
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sanding sugar, for sprinkling
2 tablespoons apricot preserves
1 tablespoon water
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting (optional)
Whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Steps:

  • Roll puff pastry into a 14-by-16-inch rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Cut a 1-inch-wide strip from each side of dough. Brush edges with egg wash, and top with cut strips to form a crust. Prick middle of dough all over with a fork, and transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spread applesauce onto middle of dough using an offset spatula. Arrange apple wedges over applesauce in 3 tightly overlapping rows. Brush apples with melted butter. Brush crust with egg wash, and sprinkle entire surface with sanding sugar. (Unbaked tart can be frozen for up to 3 days.)
  • Bake until edges start to puff, about 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 375 degrees, and bake, rotating halfway through, until pastry is dark golden brown and apples have caramelized, 25 to 30 minutes more. Transfer sheet to a wire rack, and let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Warm apricot preserves and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Brush apples with warm apricot preserves. Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired, and cut into squares using a pizza wheel or a knife. Serve warm with whipped cream if desired.

SIMPLE PUFF PASTRY APPLE DESSERT

Simple Puff Pastry Apple Dessert image

These are easy to make and really tasty. I just made another batch and found that I like them even better using brown sugar. I also had to add 2 tsp of flour as a thickener to this batch because the apples released a lot of juice.

Provided by Pesto lover

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h

Yield 9 turnovers, 9 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

9 puff pastry, squares (5x5)
5 apples, peeled, cored and sliced into wedges
1 teaspoon lemon juice
4 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons cream (you can use half and half)
3 tablespoons turbinado sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare apples. I peel them and then use a corer/slicer that gives you 8 wedges. Cut each wedge into 3 pieces. Place cut apples in a bowl of water with the lemon or lime juice as you cut it so it won't discolor. When you are done cutting all apples, drain them well.
  • 2. In a very large skillet, melt the butter over a low/medium heat and toss in the apples.
  • 3. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. I use golden delicious apples (NOT red delicious, which will turn to mush) Cortlands are really good too. If you use a tart apple, like granny smith, you will need to increase the sugar to 1/2-2/3 cups.
  • 4. Cook the apples until they are a little soft, but not cooked to mush. Cool for 5 minutes.
  • 5. Fill the 5x5 inch puff pastry squares & close in a triangular shape, pinching the edges well all around. Place on a baking sheet.
  • 6. Brush cream on each one & sprinkle with raw sugar.
  • 7. Place in preheated 400 degree oven until nicely browned. It usually takes about 20 minutes, but watch after 15 minutes, so that they don't burn. I have found that they bake best on the middle shelf. The tops burn on the top shelf and the bottoms burn on the bottom shelf, so bake in two batches if you have to.

RUSTIC APPLE TART

Rustic Apple Tart image

The store-bought puff pastry crust makes prep time shorter and still produces a quality tart.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Dessert & Treats Recipes     Pie & Tarts Recipes

Time 1h

Yield Serves 4 to 6

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 sheet frozen puff pastry (from a standard 17.3-ounce package), thawed
Unbleached flour, for work surface
3 Granny Smith apples
1/3 cup sugar
1 large egg yolk, beaten with 1 teaspoon water, for egg wash
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons apple jelly or apricot jam

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Open pastry sheet and remove paper. Fold sheet back up. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out pastry sheet (still folded) to an 8-by-14-inch rectangle. Trim edges with a pizza cutter or sharp paring knife. Transfer to a baking sheet; place in freezer. Peel, core, and slice apples 1/4 inch thick. Toss in a large bowl with sugar.
  • Brush pastry with egg wash, avoiding edges. Use a sharp paring knife to score a 3/4-inch border around pastry (do not cut all the way through). Place apples inside border, and dot with butter. Bake until pastry is golden and apples are tender, 30 to 35 minutes.
  • In the microwave or a small saucepan, heat jelly with 1 tablespoon water until melted. Brush apples with glaze. Serve tart warm or at room temperature, cutting into pieces with a serrated knife.

APPLE MARZIPAN PUFF PASTRY TART

Apple Marzipan Puff Pastry Tart image

This is a variation on a puff pastry tart recipe: the marzipan adds a sweet extra layer to this dessert. Autumn is the time to try it out when the apples are sweet and crisp. I like using McIntosh apples as they are an excellent baking apple with not too much liquid, but other types like Lobo can be used. This is a super easy recipe for apple pie and makes a spectacular presentation at a dinner party.

Provided by ChristinaT

Categories     Desserts     Pies     Tarts     Fruit Tart Recipes

Time 1h

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 (4 ounce) package marzipan
3 large McIntosh apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold butter, cut into small cubes
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or more to taste
⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¾ cup brown sugar, or to taste
¼ cup chopped lightly toasted pecans
1 egg, beaten

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  • Roll puff pastry out into a 14- to 15-inch circle on a floured surface. Place onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Place marzipan between 2 pieces of plastic wrap and roll into a circle about 11 inches in diameter. Remove plastic wrap and place marzipan in the center of the puff pastry.
  • Toss apples, cornstarch, butter, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a large bowl. Add brown sugar and toss quickly.
  • Arrange the apple slices in concentric circles onto the marzipan, leaving about 3 inches of pastry free at the edges. Pile the apple filling high up in layers and add all the dry bits remaining in the bowl. Sprinkle with pecans.
  • Fold edges of the puff pastry up around the filling, leaving center open and pinching the edges where it overlaps. Press pastry gently around the filling to squeeze out any excess air in between. Brush a little egg around the top.
  • Place in the preheated oven and immediately reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bake until puff pastry is golden brown and apples are fork-tender, 35 to 40 minutes.
