This all-butter Maple Pecan Buttercream Frosting is great for any fall cake or cupcake. Maple makes for a very sweet frosting, but the pecans balance it out perfectly!

Provided by Karen

Categories     Dessert

Time 15m

3/4 cup pecans (toasted, finely chopped)
1 cup salted butter (2 sticks )
3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup real maple syrup (I used Grade A)

  • Set a frying pan over medium heat. Add the pecans and stir occasionally until they start to smell delicious, or until they barely start to brown. Set aside to cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, cream the butter to within an inch of its life. Just kidding, beat it for a couple minutes until it's high and fluffy.
  • Add 2 cups of powdered sugar and maple syrup. Beat well.
  • Add 1 cup powdered sugar, maple extract, and salt. Beat well.
  • Add the chopped pecans when they are completely cooled and beat it. Try not to eat it all with a spoon.

MAPLE, BACON AND PECAN BROWNIES

Maple, bacon and pecan brownies image

Try something new with this triple-tested brownie recipe. Odd though it may sound, the bacon adds a wonderful depth to these moreish squares. Trust us, it works – think bacon and syrup pancakes.

Categories     Bacon     chocolate recipes     pecan nuts     maple syrup     brownie recipes

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 rashers smoked streaky bacon
150 g (5oz) unsalted butter, chopped, plus extra to grease
75 ml (3fl oz) maple syrup
75 g (3oz) pecans, roughly chopped
225 g (8oz) light brown soft sugar
75 g (3oz) cocoa powder
2 medium eggs
60 g (2½oz) plain flour

Steps:

  • Preheat grill to medium. Grill the bacon on a baking sheet until the fat is golden, then lay the rashers on kitchen paper to allow them to crisp up. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) mark 4 and lightly grease and line a 20.5cm (8in) square tin with baking parchment.
  • Snip or break the bacon into small pieces; put into a bowl with the maple syrup and pecans. Mix and set aside.
  • Put the butter and sugar into a large heatproof bowl and sift in the cocoa powder. Put bowl over a pan of barely simmering water (make sure the base of the bowl doesn't touch the water) and heat until the mixture is melted and smooth, stirring occasionally - initially it will look like the mixture won't come together, but it will. Lift the bowl off the pan and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Beat the eggs, one at a time, into the chocolate mixture. Sift over the flour and beat vigorously until the mixture is shiny and smooth. Stir in most of the bacon mix.
  • Scrape the chocolate mixture into the prepared tin, level and scatter over the remaining bacon mixture. Bake for 20-30min or until set. Leave the brownie to cool completely in tin before cutting into squares. Like this? You'll love... AIR FRYER PECAN PRALINE CANDIED BACON

Air Fryer Pecan Praline Candied Bacon image

In my version, this still tastes incredibly decadent even with leaner center cut bacon and 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar per slice. The bacon starts in a cold oven, which helps to keep it from curling up as it cooks.

Provided by Coco Morante

Categories     Breakfast

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 slices center cut or regular bacon (medium or thick-sliced (do not use very thin bacon))
1/4 cup raw pecan halves
3 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons unsalted butter (at room temperature)
Pinch of ground cinnamon
Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Pinch of salt

Steps:

  • Line the air fryer cooking pan with foil. Lay the slices of bacon on the pan in a single layer. Place the pan of bacon in the cold air fryer oven.☞TESTER TIP: Fold up the sides of the foil to create a "boat". This will keep the grease from spilling out of the foil and makes cleanup a breeze.
  • Set the air fryer oven to bake at 375°F (190°C) and set the cooking time for 8 minutes.
  • While the oven is preheating, in a mini food processor, combine the pecans, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, cayenne, if using, and salt. Process until you can still see little pieces of pecans, but the mixture is beginning to clump together, about 8 (1-second) pulses.
  • When the oven has preheated, wearing heat-resistant mitts, remove the pan from the oven. Drain any accumulated fat from the cooking pan. Sprinkle about 2 teaspoons of the pecan topping down the center of each slice of bacon, then press it down so it spreads out almost to the edges of each slice.
  • Place the bacon back in the oven and let cook until crispy, about 8 minutes.
  • When the cooking program ends, use tongs to grasp the end of each piece of bacon and slide it onto a serving platter or plates while still hot and pliable (this will keep the topping from cracking). Let the bacon cool for about 2 minutes, then serve warm.

  • Place pecans on the prepared baking sheet and bake until lightly toasted and fragrant, about 5 minutes. Keep a close eye on them, as they can burn fast. Transfer the pecans to a cutting board and chop coarsely. Set aside.
  • Turn the oven heat up to 400 degrees. Lay the bacon strips out flat on the same foil-lined baking sheet, leaving space in between so they don't overlap. Roast for 12-20 minutes, rotating the pan from front to back midway through, until the bacon is crisp (cooking time will depend on thickness of bacon). Transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels; pour rendered bacon fat into a small dish and then discard aluminum foil. When bacon is cool, finely chop.
  • Turn the oven heat up to 425 degrees, and line the baking sheet with fresh aluminum foil. Using a rubber spatula, toss the brussels sprouts with the rendered bacon fat, olive oil, salt and pepper directly on the baking sheet. Roast, stirring midway through with rubber spatula to promote even browning, until brussels sprouts are tender and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Add balsamic vinegar and maple syrup and toss to coat evenly. Taste and adjust seasoning, then transfer to a serving dish. Right before serving, top with chopped pecans and bacon. Serve hot or warm.
