1 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup water
1 cup ginger root (peeled and sliced)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a saucepan on medium heat, combine the sugar and water.
  • Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved.
  • Add the ginger and continue to heat, bringing the syrup to a light boil.
  • Cover, reduce heat, and allow to simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool and steep in the covered pan for about 1 hour or until it reaches your preferred taste.
  • Strain out the ginger and bottle under a tight seal.
  • Mix into your favorite drinks and enjoy!

All that is needed is your favorite pain killer and before you know it, you're better! My deepest thanks to the cook book "sublime vegetarian" for this recipe. I have personally made this recipe for a couple of winters now, it works. My family thinks it's wonderful.

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup ginger, sliced
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1 lemon, zest of
1/2 cup fresh grapefruit juice
1 grapefruit, zest of
1 tablespoon cornstarch, mixed with
1 tablespoon water

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, ginger and juice and zest of lemon and grapefruit.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.
  • Remove any scum (bubbles) that float to the surface.
  • Add cornstarch mix and stir for about 1 minute until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and allow to cool.
  • Transfer to a covered glass jar and refrigerate.
  • This will keep for about a month in the fridge.
  • When someone in your family gets the flu or the chills, put 2 Tablespoons in a mug with hot water, stir.
  • Let them drink this slowly and follow up with either Tylenol or Asprin.
  • They will be better in no time.

  • Bring sugar and water to a boil in a small saucepan over moderate heat. Add ginger and reduce heat to simmer. Stir until sugar dissolves and ginger infuses syrup, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and take out ginger. Cool and pour over chunks of pineapple, sliced kiwi, sliced bananas, or any of your favorite fruit combinations.

Steps:

  • Make the ginger simple syrup: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, and ginger. Bring to a low boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, until the sugar is fully dissolved and the ginger is fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve (you should have ⅓ cup (80 ml) syrup).
  • Fill a 10-cup pitcher halfway with ice. Pour in the ginger simple syrup, orange juice, and prosecco and stir to combine. Top with the bitter orange liqueur and club soda. Fill the pitcher with the orange slices. Serve immediately.

2 ounces fresh unpeeled ginger (about the size of the first part of your thumb)
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
2 pieces lemon zest

Steps:

  • Wash the ginger well in hot water. Using a Microplane zester, grate the ginger, carefully reserving the juice and pulp.
  • In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, bring the water and sugar to a gentle boil. Add the ginger and lemon zest, and remove the pan from the heat. Cover the pan and steep for about 45 minutes.
  • Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh strainer and let cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 14 days.
