GARLIC CHEESE ROLLS FOR BREAD MACHINE



Garlic Cheese Rolls for Bread Machine image

I've been making this recipe for several years but I don't remember where I found it. It's very good with Italian dishes.

Yield 24 rolls

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 cup water
3 cups bread flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
2 teaspoons yeast
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese, more, if needed

Steps:

  • Place first 7 ingredients in bread pan and select dough cycle.
  • When cycle is finished, turn dough onto a floured countertop or cutting board (use flour sparingly).
  • Gently roll and stretch dough into a 24 inch rope.
  • Grease two 8 inch pie pans or one 13x9 pan.
  • With a sharp knife, divide dough into 24 pieces.
  • Shape into balls; place into prepared pans.
  • In small bowl, combine butter and garlic; pour over rolls.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes until doubled.
  • Bake at 375º for 10-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven, cut apart, and serve warm.

1 1/2 lbs sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 lb processed cheese product such as Velveeta cheese
3 ounces cream cheese
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
garlic powder

Steps:

  • Soften cheeses and mix all together well.
  • Shape into four rolls and wrap well in foil or plastic wrap.

This is posted for a request. It's from a cookbook I use often-The Aust. Women's Weekly Barbecue Book-though i've never made this cheese roll. I'm only guessing at prep time, and in the blurb, it says it can actually be made up to 4 days ahead to allow the flavours to really develop.

1/2 cup chopped mixed dried fruit
1/4 cup chopped mixed glace fruit
2 tablespoons port wine
1 (250 g) packet cream cheese
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
3/4 cup poppy seed

Steps:

  • Combine fruits in bowl, add port, cover and allow to stand for 1-2 hours.
  • Beat softened cream cheese and cheddar together in electric mixer, stir in rind and fruit mixture.
  • Refrigerate covered for 1 hour.
  • Roll mixture into a log shape about 20cm in length, roll in poppy seeds, cover and refrigerated 24 hours.
  • Serve with crackers.

Tender, delicious rolls. They make my kitchen smells wonderful. They are baked in a non preheated oven. Be sure you don't overbake them !

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 cup water plus 2 tbsp water
1 cup white whole wheat flour (or all-purpose flour )
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons canola oil
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
2 tablespoons potato flour (optional)
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 dash salt
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Place all the dough ingredients in bread machine pan and select dough cycle. Add more flour or water, if necessary, to form a soft, smooth dough.
  • ( If you are using a stand mixer, knead it for 7 to 10 minutes and let it rest for 1 hour before shaping the rolls. ).
  • When cycle is finished, turn dough in a floured surface and cut it in 12 pieces. I usually cut the dough in 3 pieces and divide them in half, then, each piece in half again. Shape into balls.
  • Place them in a greased 13X9 inch pan.
  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder and dash of salt.
  • Brush the rolls with the mixture and sprinkle them with parmesan cheese.
  • Turn on the oven for 1 minute, turn it off and put the pan ( uncovered ) inside of the warm oven. Let the rolls rise for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  • Set the oven at 350º F and bake the rolls for 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
  • Serve warm.

Steps:

  • Roll out cheese between two sheets of wax paper, thin.
  • Spread with cream cheese.
  • Sprinkle with chilies.
  • Roll up like jellyroll.
  • Garnish with sliced olives.
  • Serve with crackers.
