Yield 5 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 lb fresh string bean, trimmed
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons Hidden Valley® Original Ranch® Dressing
4 slices bacon, cooked, crumbled

Steps:

  • Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add string beans, and cook for 5 minutes. Drain the beans in a colander and immediately pour cold water over them, which will help set the green color and prevent them from cooking further.

  • Meanwhile, heat a large pan over medium-low heat. Add the green beans and ranch dressing to the pan and saute the mixture for approximately 3-5 minutes, until crisp tender.
  • Toss the crumbled bacon into the dish right before you serve it, so that the bacon stays crisp.

2 1/2 pounds green beans, trimmed
Kosher salt
1/2 pound bacon, roughly chopped
1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans
Juice of 1/2 lemon

Spoon off the excess bacon grease, leaving 2 tablespoons in the pan. Add the onion to the pan and saute until soft and very tender, 4 to 5 minutes. Sprinkle in the garlic and red pepper flakes and saute until just fragrant, about 1 more minute. Add the reserved green beans and the pecans and cook until heated through, 5 to 6 minutes more. GREEN BEANS WITH BACON

Green Beans with Bacon image

"MY MOTHER was from North Carolina, and she preferred green pole beans to green snap beans. I've found that either is delicious in this recipe, as long as long as the beans are fresh. Mother also brought with her from North Carolina the custom of chopping and 'mounding' the beans before serving-a touch that makes them even more special."
