1 1/2 pounds extra lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped greeen pepper
1 (8oz.) can no-salt added tomato sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 tabl. dark brown sugar
1 1/2 tabl. worchestershire sauce
1 1/2 tabl. lemon juice
1 1/2 tabl. yellow mustard
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. black pepper
8 wonderbread lite hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Ina non-stick skillet coated with cooking spray, cook beef, onion, and bell pepper. Drain in colander; set aside. Wipe drippings from skillet with a paper towel. Return beef mixture to skillet. Stir in tomato sauce and next 7 ingredients; cook over medium heat 10 minutes or until slightly thick, stirring frequently. Spoon beef mixture evenly on buns. 5 points

1 (14 1/2 ounce) can tomatoes, diced
1 onion, chopped
1 celery, chopped
3 tablespoons brown sugar (I used less)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 whole wheat hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Spray a skillet with Pam and put over medium high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned (5 minutes).
  • Transfer to crock pot and stir in the remaining ingredients (except for the bread of course). Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Spoon mixture onto the hamburger rolls.

1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup barbecue sauce

1/2 cup shredded cheese

Steps:

  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion and garlic; drain off liquids.
  • Stir in the mustard, ketchup, bbq sauce, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly.
  • Season with salt, pepper & cayenne pepper to taste.
  • Reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes.

I originally got this recipe from Cooking Light a couple of years ago. It is easy to make and has great flavor! The rest of my non-WW family enjoys it. You won't miss the fat! I calculated points putting the sloppy joe on a lite wheat bun (Kroger brand has one with 80 calories-- 1/2 gram fat, 4 fiber grams--1 point. I'm sure there are other light versions out there.) If you adjust the recipe and use more sloppy joe mixture on your bun or use a higher-calorie, higher-point bun, of course your WW point values will change.

A friend gave me a copy of this recipe. I just tried it for the first time tonight. I baked it for 45 minutes and forgot to check on the progress in the oven.....half of the cheese burned! So take the baking time with a grain of salt. I would closely watch, or cover it loosely with foil partially through the baking time. We thought this was a wonderful way to have a cheesy saucy pasta dish but still be able to watch our weight! I haven't tweaked this yet or verified the points calculation - but who can resist sharing another WW recipe! 6 WW points per serving.

1 (1 1/2 ounce) envelope sloppy joe seasoning mix
1/2 lb white meat skinless ground turkey, cooked and drained
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (16 ounce) carton 1% low fat cottage cheese
1 cup water
1 cup grated alpine lace fat-free cheddar cheese or 1 cup kraft free cheese slice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cook macaroni per package directions; drain.
  • Meanwhile, brown the ground turkey in a skillet. Drain.
  • Stir in seasoning mix,tomato paste, tomato sauce, cottage cheese and one cup water.
