½ cup pure maple syrup
¼ cup balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Steps:

  • Blend maple syrup, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, dry mustard, salt, basil, and black pepper in a blender until smooth; stream olive oil into the mixture while blending and continue blending until dressing is thick and creamy.

This is a great, versatile salad with a yummy dressing. I like serving this with a good, hearty steak and potoates meal. Enjoy!

10 oz salad greens of your choosing (romaine, spinach, etc...)
1/3 lb cheese of your liking (feta, blue cheese, etc...)
6 oz nuts of your liking (walnuts, pecans, etc...), toasted!
1/4 c maple syrup, warmed
1 1/2 Tbsp cider vinegar
1/4 c olive oil, extra virgin
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Place your washed and torn lettuce on a large platter. Top with the cheese and nuts of your choosing.
  • 2. Pour vinegar into a bowl. Whisk the oil into the vinegar in a slow stream, then whisk in the warm maple syrup slowly.
  • 3. Pour dressing over the salad and serve. Note: use as much or as little of the dressing as you like - don't just dump the full amount of it at once. Season with salt and pepper, to tasted and enjoy!

8 cups washed dried and torn into bite sized pieces Boston lettuce or 8 cups mixed greens
1 cup walnuts or 1 cup pecan halves
2 apples, cored and sliced
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shaved
2 tablespoons apple cyder vinegar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons maple syrup

Steps:

  • In jar with tight fitting lid.
  • combine the dressing ingredients and shake well.
  • Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • On a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • spread out the nuts that were combined with the syrup.
  • Bake 15 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • To assemble:.
  • Toss salad greens of choice with as much of the dressing as you would like.
  • Devide onto 6-8 serving plates and top with apples, cheese and nuts.

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 5-ounce bag mixed baby greens (about 10 cups lightly packed)
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into matchstick-size strips
1/2 cup dried tart cherries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Steps:

  • For dressing:
  • Whisk mayonnaise, maple syrup, vinegar, and sugar in medium bowl to blend. Gradually whisk in oil until mixture thickens slightly. Season to taste with salt and pepper. (Dressing can be prepared 3 days ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Rewhisk before using.)
  • For salad:
  • Toss greens, apples, cherries, and 1/4 cup walnuts in large bowl to combine. Toss with enough dressing to coat. Divide salad equally among plates. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup walnuts and serve.
