POPPIN' JALAPENO BREAD

Poppin' Jalapeno Bread image

Bergy gave me the idea to use jalapeno bread to make hamburger rolls... while my hamburger idea didn't quite fly, the buns were out of this world! I used 2 fresh and 1 canned Trappey's jalapenos, and sprinkled sesame seeds on top. I thought it had a wonderfully spicy flavour, and my fiancee informed me that many folks would think these were 'hot'. Give it a shot! I baked the buns on a baking stone for about 20 minutes. They made 6 large rolls.

POPPIN' JALAPENO BLACKBERRY PIE

Poppin' Jalapeno Blackberry Pie image

I created this pie for my dad, who loves peppers and blackberries, but had never had them together. It's super sweet, with a real kick of jalapeno flavor. Even my sister, who's a wuss about spiciness, loved it!

Categories     Desserts     Pies     Fruit Pie Recipes     Blackberry Pie Recipes

Time 1h35m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 10

4 cups blackberries
¼ cup honey
2 jalapeno peppers, sliced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 ½ cups brown sugar, divided
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, or as needed
1 cup butter, cubed
¼ cup ice water, or as needed
1 cup quick-cooking oats

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Place a baking sheet on the bottom rack of the oven.
  • Combine blackberries, honey, jalapeno peppers, and lemon juice in a large bowl. Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar and cornstarch together in a bowl; stir into blackberry mixture until brown sugar mixture is dissolved.
  • Mix flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar together in a separate large bowl; cut butter into flour mixture using a pastry blender or food processor until mixture forms pea-sized balls. Add ice water and mix with your hands until dough is well combined, adding flour if the mixture is too sticky and small amounts of water if the mixture is too dry.
  • Divide dough in half and roll each half into a 9-inch circle on a well-floured surface. Press 1 circle into a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Remove jalapeno peppers from blackberry mixture and discard. Slowly pour blackberry mixture into pie crust, leaving about 1/4-inch space between top of filling and top edge of pie crust.
  • Mix oats and 1/2 cup brown sugar together in a bowl; sprinkle over blackberry filling. Cover pie with second pie crust. Cut off excess edges from top crust and fold bottom crust edges over top crust edges, pinching to form a seal. Cut 2 slits in the top of crust for ventilation.
  • Place pie on the middle rack of the oven, centered over the baking sheet on the bottom rack to catch drips. Bake pie until crust starts turning golden, about 25 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake until entire crust is golden brown, about 40 more minutes.

BEST EVER JALAPENO POPPERS

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers image

This is a recipe I made by taking the best of three or four popper recipes and combining them to make something that tastes wonderful. A frequent request at my house, and at others. I usually make 100 and put them in the fridge. They don't last long. Adjust the amount of bacon bits and type of shredded cheese to taste. Increase the recipe as necessary! Lots of tests helps to best figure out the way you like it. Be sure to wear rubber gloves while seeding the jalapenos -- they will burn.

Time 1h

Yield 32

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon bacon bits
12 ounces jalapeno peppers, seeded and halved
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup dry bread crumbs
2 quarts oil for frying

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, Cheddar cheese and bacon bits. Spoon this mixture into the jalapeno pepper halves.
  • Put the milk and flour into two separate small bowls. Dip the stuffed jalapenos first into the milk then into the flour, making sure they are well coated with each. Allow the coated jalapenos to dry for about 10 minutes.
  • Dip the jalapenos in milk again and roll them through the breadcrumbs. Allow them to dry, then repeat to ensure the entire surface of the jalapeno is coated.
  • In a medium skillet, heat the oil to 365 degrees F ( 180 degrees C). Deep fry the coated jalapenos 2 to 3 minutes each, until golden brown. Remove and let drain on a paper towel.

JALAPENO POPPER GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH

Jalapeno Popper Grilled Cheese Sandwich image

This is an awesome spin on a plain grilled cheese sandwich. Feel free to alter it to your liking. The ciabatta bread is not typical grilled cheese material but the crunch of the buttery grilled chewy bread goes perfect with this jalapeno filling. You can also use sourdough bread.

Provided by BrandyE

Categories     Main Dish Recipes     Sandwich Recipes     Grilled Cheese

Time 20m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon sour cream
10 pickled jalapeno pepper slices, or to taste - chopped
2 ciabatta sandwich rolls
4 teaspoons butter
8 tortilla chips, crushed
½ cup shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese

Steps:

  • Combine the cream cheese, sour cream, and pickled jalapeno in a small bowl. Set aside. Preheat skillet over medium heat.
  • Slice each roll in half horizontally, then slice the rounded tops off the ciabatta rolls to make a flat top half. Spread 1 teaspoon butter on the doughy cut side of the bottom bun and 1 teaspoon butter on the now flattened top bun. Place half of the cream cheese mixture, half of the crushed chips, and half of the shredded cheese on the non-buttered side of the bottom bun. Place the top half of the bun on the sandwich and place the sandwich on the hot skillet. Repeat with the second sandwich.
  • Grill until lightly browned and flip over, about 3 to 5 minutes; continue grilling until cheese is melted and the second side is golden brown.

Jalapeno Popper Pull Apart Bread image

I've become fanatical about the sour dough pull apart bread appetizers posted all over the blog world. Soooooo, here's an original one from Plain Chicken's blog.

Provided by gailanng

Categories     Cheese

Time 35m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (16 ounce) round sourdough loaf, unsliced
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons pickled jalapeno pepper juice

3 tablespoons bacon bits
1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

BREADED JALAPENO POPPERS

Breaded Jalapeno Poppers image

Best poppers I've ever eaten. These freeze very well after frying, so you can make them ahead of time for a party and just reheat them.

Provided by Geema

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 1h15m

Yield 50 poppers

Number Of Ingredients 7

12 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 (8 ounce) package shredded monterey jack pepper cheese
25 jalapeno peppers, seeded and halved
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup dry breadcrumbs
oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • Remember to wear some disposable gloves when working with jalapeno peppers-- and don't touch your face!
  • If you don't have any plastic gloves, I have slipped my hands into baggies to protect them from the oils that can really burn and sting for hours.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, and pepper jack cheese.
  • In a pot of barely simmering water, blanch the pepper halves for 2 minutes, drain and dry thoroughly.
  • Spoon mixture into the jalapeno pepper halves.
  • Put the milk and flour into two separate small bowls.
  • Dip the stuffed jalapenos first into the milk then into the flour, making sure they are well coated with each.
  • Allow the coated jalapenos to dry for about 10 minutes.
  • Dip the jalapenos in milk again and roll them through the breadcrumbs.
  • Allow them to dry, then repeat to ensure the entire surface of the jalapeno is coated.
  • In a medium skillet, heat the oil to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Deep fry the coated jalapenos 2 to 3 minutes each, until golden brown.
