Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 C).
- Cut the bread in cubes the size you prefer.
- Place the cubed bread in a bowl and drizzle the olive oil over them. If you are making garlic croutons (place olive oil in a little pan with minced garlic and heat. Strain most of the garlic and then drizzle over bread cubes).
- Mix gently, making sure all pieces of bread have olive oil on them.
- Spread on a pan that has been lined with aluminum foil, making sure they are all in one layer. At this point if some piece of bread does not have olive oil on it, you can spritz with an olive oil mister or brush with olive oil.
- Bake for about 20 minutes (checking at 15 minutes). If you are using soft (commercial) bread, bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove when golden.
- Sprinkle salt and freshly ground pepper right after removing from the oven.
- Store in airproof container for 3 weeks.

AIR FRYER CROUTONS
Homemade croutons are incredibly simple and quick to make, thanks to the air fryer! We added a touch of dried oregano and granulated garlic for a boost of flavor to complement a variety of salads, soups and other dishes. Feel free to remove the oil and seasonings altogether and follow the same method to dry out bread for stuffing, dressing, bread pudding and more--in less than half the time it would take with an oven.

My husband thought these were a snack I made for him to munch on while he watched TV, they were gone so quick I didn't have time to put them on a salad or a bowl of soup! These would also be great if you sliced the bread, you would need to adjust the baking time.

CROUTONS
A perfect way to use up a stale loaf of bread or leftover baguette. My little niece used to eat homemade croutons as a snack by the handfuls. These are so much better than the store bought kind and can be used to serve with salads and soup. From Bride and Groom, First and Forever Cookbook.
