Steps:
- Place cake cubes in large bowl. Sprinkle with liqueur if desired; let stand 30 minutes. In a medium bowl, combine confectioners' sugar and cream cheese; beat until blended. Reserve 2 tablespoons whipped topping; fold remaining topping into cheese mixture. Stir topping mixture and pecans into cake cubes; mix well. Spoon cake mixture into a pretty glass or crystal bowl. Spread cherry filling evenly over top. Or, if desired, layer one-half cake mixture and cherry filling; repeat layers.) Cover; refrigerate at least 3 hours. Garnish servings with reserved topping.

Steps:
- Place egg whites in a small bowl; let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Add cream of tartar; beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved., Spoon meringue onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Using the back of a spoon, form meringue into a 9-in. circle, building up edges slightly., Bake at 275° for 1-1/2 hours. Turn oven off and do not open door; leave meringue in oven for 1 hour. Remove from the oven; cool completely., In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth. Fold in whipped cream until mixture is well blended. To serve, place meringue on a serving platter; fill with cream cheese mixture and top with pie filling.

You can use either a homemade angel food cake or a store bought one. Super easy to prepare and the dish always come home licked clean. Works especially well when you need to prepare dessert for a large number of people.

- Tear the angel food cake into 1 inch cubes. Place them in a single layer in a 13x9 inch pan.
- (The pudding amount is 2 small boxes or 1 large US box pudding, either instant or cooked.) Pour the pudding over the cake; top with the cherry pie filling.
- Can also be layered in a trifle bowl or in individual parfait glasses.
- I've never tried it but I bet chocolate pudding would be good too. :).

CHRISTMAS CHERRY TRIFLE DESSERT
This is perfect to serve at the holidays, it has a beautiful red color and makes a lovely presentation that will light up any holiday table --- plan ahead, this dessert needs to be chilled for 3 or more hours, prep time includes chilling time -- make this low fat by using low fat milk and reduced fat Cool Whip and pudding mix :)

Steps:
- Stir boiling water into gelatin in a large bowl at least 2 minutes, until completely dissolved (can add sugar for a sweeter taste if desired).
- Stir in the ice cubes until melted.
- Add in the cherry pie filling; stir to combine.
- Place all the cake cubes in a 3-qt serving bowl or large glass trifle dish.
- Spoon the gelatin mixture over cake.
- Refrigerate 15 minutes, or until set but not firm.
- Pour the 1-1/2 cups half and half cream into large bowl; add pudding mix; whisk for about 1 minute.
- Gently stir in 1/2 of the whipped topping.
- Spoon over gelatin mixture in a bowl.
- Refrigerate 3 hours or until set.
- Garnish with remaining whipped topping.

CHERRY ANGEL FOOD TRIFLE
From Quick Cooking 2001 recipe Light and refreshing dessert. Very pretty in a trifle bowl. Leave time for trifle to chill for at least 4 hours before serving. Note: Not sure of the size of a normal envelope of dry whipped topping mix - just the standard size is needed. You can use a store bought angel food cake or make one at home.

- In a mixing bowl, combine the 1 3/4 cups of milk and pudding mix. Beat on low speed for 2 minutes or until thickened.
- In another bowl, beat whipped topping mix, vanilla and the 1/2 cup remaining milk until stiff peaks form.
- Cut cake into 1/2 inch cubes and place half in a 3 quart glass trifle bowl.
- Sprinkle with 1 tbls cherry juice.
- Top with half of the pie filling, half of the prepared pudding and 1/4 cup of the chocolate syrup.
- Repeat layers.
- Top with whipping topping and remaining syrup.
- Sprinkle with coconut and almonds.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.

Steps:
- Drain cherries thoroughly.
- Add salt, cream of tartar, almond flavoring, and vanilla to egg whites.
- Beat until foamy but not stiff.
- Beat in sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time.
- Sift flour 3 times and fold into mixture.
- Pour a layer in the bottom of an ungreased cake pan.
- Sprinkle in 1/2 cherries.
- Add remaining batter and top with remaining cherries.
- Bake in the oven at 325° for 50 minutes.
- Invert and allow to hang until cake cools and pulls away from sides of pan.
- Use whipped cream as frosting and top with whole cherries.

- Beat cream cheese and 1/2 cup sugar together in a bowl. Stir marshmallows, whipped topping, and vanilla through the cream cheese mixture. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate 8 to 12 hours.
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
- Beat egg whites with cream of tartar in a large bowl; add 1 cup sugar in small amounts into the egg white mixture and keep beating until very stiff. Draw a large circle onto a piece of brown paper or parchment. Fill in the circle with the meringue mixture building up the sides.
