Crisp hot waffles filled with bites of ham and melting cheese are an irresistible breakfast option for busy mornings on the go or for a lazy weekend brunch!

2 cups all-purpose flour*
1 teaspoon kosher salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 eggs
1 ½ cups milk
6 tablespoons butter (melted)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ pound deli ham (chopped into 1/2-inch pieces, about 1 1/2 cups chopped ham)
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese or pre-shredded three cheese blend
1⅓ cups brown rice flour
⅔ cup tapioca starch
¼ cup potato starch

Steps:

  • Preheat the waffle iron. Stir together the dry ingredients. Add the milk and eggs and stir to combine. Add the melted butter and vanilla and stir to combine. Stir in the ham and cheese. Pour onto the hot waffle iron and cook until lightly browned. Serve handheld or with a drizzle of maple syrup. Enjoy!
  • FREEZER MEAL: Let the waffles cool completely, before storing them in an airtight zip close bag. Reheat the frozen waffles in a toaster oven or in the microwave.

1 cup cubed ham
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Generous sprinkling of freshly ground pepper
2 cups prepared waffle batter
Cooking spray
Maple syrup, for serving

Steps:

  • Fold the ham, cheese and pepper into the prepared waffle batter in a large bowl.
  • Preheat a waffle iron and coat with cooking spray. Pour some batter into the waffle iron, spreading it into the corners. Close the lid and leave it closed until the waffles are cooked through and golden brown in spots, 6 to 8 minutes. Continue until all the batter has been used.
  • Cut the waffles into sticks, transfer to plates and serve with maple syrup.

Steps:

  • Mix cauliflower, ham, egg, Cheddar cheese, flour, green onions, oil, and pepper together in a large bowl until evenly combined.
  • Set waffle iron to the highest heat setting and spray both griddles with nonstick spray. Spoon 1 cup of the cauliflower mixture into the center of the waffle iron. Keep the rest of the batter refrigerated. Close lid and cook for 10 minutes. Gently remove the waffle using a spatula and fork. Cook remaining batter.

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 pinch cayenne pepper
1 1/4 cups milk
2 large eggs
2/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese, preferable yellow
mustard
lettuce
6 slices ham
4 slices cheddar cheese
1 ripe tomatoes, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Preheat the waffle iron.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and pepper to mix.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs until well blended.
  • Pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir with the whisk until just combined.
  • Fold in the shredded cheese and melted butter.
  • Lightly butter or spray the grids of your waffle iron, if needed.
  • Spoon out 1/2 of batter onto the grids, spreading it evenly.
  • Close the lid and bake until the waffle is golden and set.
  • Keep the waffles, in a single layer, on a cooling rack while you make the rest of the batch.
  • You can make sandwiches with these waffles when they are hot, warm or at room temperature.
  • Spread one side of each waffle with mustard.
  • Divide the remaining ingredients evenly between the remaining waffles.
  • Cut each sandwich into quarters.

3 large egg whites
3 large egg yolks
1 cup (2 sticks) melted butter
1 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup soda water
nonstick vegetable oil spray
1 cup thinly-cut strips of ham
3/4 cup shredded sharp white cheddar
maple syrup

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300°F. Heat waffle iron until very hot. Whisk 1 3/4 cups flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon kosher salt in a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat 3 large egg whites in a medium bowl until medium-soft peaks form. Whisk 3 large egg yolks, 1 cup (2 sticks) melted butter, 1 cup buttermilk, and 3/4 cup soda water in a medium bowl; gradually whisk into dry ingredients. Fold in egg whites. Coat waffle iron with nonstick vegetable oil spray. Pour batter onto iron, spreading it into corners (amount of batter needed will vary according to machine). Cheese Waffles With Ham Sauce image

I came across this recipe in the Bisquick Cookbook. The recipe sounds interesting. I will be baking this recipe this coming weekend morning for breakfast.

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup Bisquick baking mix
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 cups milk
1 cup ham, finely cubed
1 teaspoon dried parsley
2 cups Bisquick baking mix
1 1/3 cups milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Heat butter over low heat in a 2 quart saucepan until melted. Stir in 1/4 cup baking mix and the pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  • Stir in ham and parseley, heat through. Keep warm over low heat.
  • Beat 2 cups baking mix, 1 1/3 cup cups milk, the oil and egg with wire whisk until well blended. Fold in the cheese. Pour 1 cup batter onto center of hot waffle iron.
  • Bake until steaming slows. Remove waffle carefully. Serve with hot ham sauce over waffles.

2 cups milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup applesauce
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour (or use all whole wheat if you have ww pastry flour)
1/2 cup quick-cooking grits (uncooked)
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4-1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded (I'm sure cheddar would be delicious too)
1/2-3/4 cup cooked ham, cubed or finely chopped

Steps:

  • In a bowl, beat eggs, milk and oil, and applesauce. Combine flour, baking powder and salt and sugar; add to egg mixture stir gently until combined (a few lumps may remain). Fold in cheese and ham.
  • Bake in a waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions until golden brown. Top with a fried egg or butter and honey. Yield: about 11 large waffles.
