Ingredients

1-1/2 cups warm water
4 envelopes (1 ounce each) instant hot cocoa mix
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1-1/2 cups half-and-half cream

Steps:

In a blender, combine water and cocoa mix; cover and process until dissolved. Add ice cream and cream; cover and process for 30 seconds or until smooth. Pour into chilled mugs.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 210 calories, Fat 2g fat (0 saturated fat), Cholesterol 4mg cholesterol, Sodium 340mg sodium, Carbohydrate 37g carbohydrate (13g sugars, Fiber 3g fiber), Protein 9g protein.

Got this off a cooking show - can't remeber which one. The combination of chilli and chocolate is fabulous in winter (picture the woodfire, pouring rain and all the associated cliches!). My boyfriend and I are both huge fans of both chocolate (that goes without saying!) and chilli, so this is a fabulous combination of the two!!

Ingredients

100 g 80% cocoa solids chocolate
chili powder
3 cups milk

Steps:

gently heat milk in a saucepan over low heat.
when the milk is about 90 degrees C, break up the chocolate and add to the milk.
stir or whisk (which ever works best) until the chocolate melts.
Add the chilli, testing as you go until it is as hot as you like it.
enjoy in bed on a rainy night with a good movie and good company (human, dog or cat!).

We serve this in our ice cream parlor and it's very popular. I know there's another frozen hot chocolate recipe here, but this one is different, as it's made with hot cocoa mix.

Ingredients

6 fluid ounces milk
1/2 cup hot cocoa mix (or 2 packets...we use Swiss Miss Milk Chocolate flavor)
1 1/2-2 cups crushed ice cubes
whipped cream (optional)
additional hot cocoa mix (optional)

Steps:

Pour milk into blender.
Add hot cocoa mix and ice.
Blend first at low speed and then high speed until ice is finely crushed and slushy.
Pour into tall glass and top with whipped cream and a dusting of hot cocoa mix, if desired.
Serve with a straw and enjoy!
P.S. This recipe was originally posted using small ice cubes. At our shop we have a commercial blender that has no problem getting through these. Since most people have regular blenders, I have changed it to crushed ice.

3 egg whites, at room temperature
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
2 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup heavy cream
6 store-bought chocolate mini meringue cookies, crushed
4 tablespoons mini marshmallows

Steps:

In a bowl, beat egg whites and a pinch of salt until soft peaks form. Add 1/4 cup sugar; beat until stiff peaks of meringue form. In a microwave-safe bowl, nuke chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until melted; let cool slightly. Gently fold chocolate into meringue until just combined. Divide mousse evenly among four 5-ounces glasses. Rinse bowl; add cream and remaining 1 tablespoon sugar; beat until soft peaks form. Top mousse with whipped cream, crushed cookies and marshmallows. Refrigerate at least 2 hours or up to 24.
