BONNIE'S PEAR AND GRAPE CRISP
Wish you had a yummy homemade dessert, but you only have a can of pears and a handful of grapes? You can make this delicious crisp with whatever you have on hand. Easy to fix, too! Top it with a dollop of cool whip or whipped cream or a scoop of your favorite ice cream. Sure to please the family. I am happy to share my recipe with you!Enjoy! Steps:
- EQUIPMENT: You will need a glass 8X8 greased baking dish, and a medium mixing bowl and small mixing bowl.
- OVEN TEMPERATURE AND TIME: Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees and bake 30 minutes.
- MAKING THE 1ST LAYER: in the small mixing bowl, combine the sliced pears and the seedless, halved grapes. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and the almond extract and mix gently. Add this mixture evenly to the greased glass baking dish.
- MAKING THE 2ND LAYER: In the medium mixing bowl, add brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Cut in the butter in until the mixture is of a coarse texture. Add the chopped walnuts, mix, and sprinkle this mixture over the fruit layer, spread it evenly. Bake in preheated oven at 375 degrees until lightly browned.
- Cook's Tip: Use with any combination of fruit or pie filling.
GRAPE PEAR CRISP
You'll be pleasantly surprised by this unusual fruit combination shared by Donna Mosher from Augusta, Montana. "Over the years, we have enjoyed this dessert topped with whipped cream or ice cream. In fact, I've worn out the recipe card several times," Donna notes.

- In a bowl, combine the grapes, pears, 2 tablespoons flour and extract until blended. Spoon into a lightly greased 8-in. square baking dish. In another bowl, combine brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and remaining flour; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in walnuts; sprinkle over fruit. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.

ROASTED PEARS AND GRAPES
This is posted for the World Tour 2005 RecipeZaar event. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks so yummy, I couldn't resist posting it for later use. The source is Lidia's Italian American Kitchen by Lidia Matticchio Bastianich.

- Preheat oven to 375°F Place grapes in an 11 X 7 inch baking dish.
- Stir the sugar, Moscato, lemon juice, apricot jam, and vanilla bean in a bowl until blended. Pour over the grapes.
- Cut pears lengthwise through the core, and remove the stems, cores, and seeds. Place the pears, cut side up, between the grapes.
- Bake, uncovered, until the pears are tender and the liquid is thick and syrupy (50 min - 1 hour).
- Remove the pears, and let them rest until the syrup thickens - about 10 minutes.
- Serve warm with some grapes and syrup drizzled over the pears.

PEAR AND GINGER CRISP WITH SPICED WHIPPED CREAM
This classic pear crisp is enlivened by freshly grated ginger. The toasted pecan topping is good enough to stand on it's own. A fragrant dollop of whipped cream infused with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg is a delicious addition when serving.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375*F.
- Toast the pecans in the oven for about 8 mintues, then set aside.
- When cool enough to handle, chop coarsely.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, brownsugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon and a pinch of salt.
- Using a spoon, slowly stir in the butter.
- Add the pecans.
- In another bowl, mix the ginger, lemon juice, sugar and a pinch of salt.
- Mix in the sliced pears.
- Turn into a 2-2 1/2 QT baking dish and cover with the topping mixture.
- Bake until the topping is crisp and pears are soft when tested with the tip of a knife, about 40 minutes.
- Whip the cream, then beat in the sugar and spices.
- Serve with the warm crisp.

- Make filling:
- Toss grapes with sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon in a wide 6- to 8-quart heavy pot. Bring to a boil, covered, over moderate heat, stirring occasionally. Continue to boil, covered, stirring occasionally, until grapes begin to burst, 20 to 30 minutes.
- Transfer grapes with a slotted spoon to a colander set over a bowl and drain 15 minutes, then return juices in bowl to pot.
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Boil juices, uncovered, until syrupy and reduced to about 2 cups, 20 to 25 minutes.
- Stir together Cognac and cornstarch until smooth and whisk into grape syrup. Boil, whisking constantly, 1 minute. Stir grapes into syrup, then spoon filling into a 3-quart shallow baking or gratin dish.
- Make topping while juices are reducing:
- Pulse together flour, brown sugar, oats, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a food processor until mixture resembles coarse meal. Transfer to a bowl and stir in pecans.
- Bake crisp:
- Sprinkle topping evenly over filling and bake in middle of oven until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbling, about 20 minutes.
