BACON WRAPPED DATES WITH BLUE CHEESE

Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese image

Making Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese is one of my favorite appetizers because it's easy to do and delicious to eat!

Provided by grilledcheesesocial

Number Of Ingredients 3

12 oz pack of Pitted Medjool Dates (about 20 large pitted dates)
1 lb thick cut bacon (cut in half)
4 oz Point Reyes Blue Cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with tinfoil and place a cooling rack on top.
  • Cut the side of each date (being careful not to cut all the way through) and add a pinch of blue cheese and stuff it inside. Press the date back together and wrap each date with a half slice of bacon. If at all possible, try to keep the cheese cut-side facing up, with the bacon cut-side facing down. This will help keep the cheese from cooking out while also keeping the bacon wrapped around each date.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the bacon is cooked through. Remove from heat and let cook for 10 minutes.
  • **OPTIONAL** If you're making the bouquet - Skewer each bacon wrapped date and place them in a small vase. If you're having trouble with them slipping down, try to skewer it through the bacon as it's thick texture holds up the best.

WARM DATES WITH BLUE CHEESE AND PROSCIUTTO

Warm Dates with Blue Cheese and Prosciutto image

Provided by Ina Garten

Categories     side-dish

Time 30m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 3

24 large dried Medjool dates with pits (14 ounces)
6 ounces sharp blue cheese, such as Bleu d'Auvergne
1/4 pound thinly sliced prosciutto (8 to 10 large slices)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • With a small paring knife, slit each date lengthwise and spread open just enough to remove the pit while leaving the date intact. Fill the cavity of each date with a small piece of blue cheese and fold the date over the cheese, pressing it back into its original shape.
  • Cut a strip of prosciutto as wide as each date is long and wrap it around twice, enclosing the date almost completely. Place the dates on a sheet pan and bake for about 8 minutes, until the prosciutto is browned and the cheese starts to melt.
  • Cool slightly and serve warm.

BACON WRAPPED DATES WITH BLUE CHEESE

Bacon Wrapped Dates with Blue Cheese image

Bacon Wrapped Dates are filled with delicious blue cheese, then wrapped in bacon and baked for a delicious appetizer for any party!

Provided by Jessica Burgess

Categories     Appetizer

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 3

12 ounces dates (pitted (medjool dates work well))
1 lb bacon (sliced in half)
2-3 ounces blue cheese (crumbled)

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray. If you are using a nonstick baking sheet you may not need to line it, but we would still recommend giving the baking sheet a spray with cooking spray so the bacon doesn't stick.
  • Using a sharp knife, gently slice dates lengthwise, not cutting all of the way through. You're creating a "pocket" for the blue cheese crumbles.
  • Stuff the cavity of each date with as many blue cheese crumbles as will fit in the center of the dates.
  • Next, take the half-slice of bacon and cover the opening of the date with the piece of bacon and begin rolling the slice of bacon around the date, securing the blue cheese inside.
  • Take a toothpick and slide it through the bacon slice, securing the bacon on both sides of the stuffed date.
  • Place bacon wrapped dates in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet or baking dish, and bake in your preheated oven for 30 minutes. Turn dates over at the 20 minute mark to help the bacon cook evenly.
  • When the bacon slice is fully cooked (we like to cook it until we have crispy bacon) they're done. Transfer to a serving platter while warm and enjoy!

BACON WRAPPED STUFFED DATES WITH BALSAMIC REDUCTION

Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Dates With Balsamic Reduction image

Sinfully delicious!! Salty and sweet, crispy and gooey!! Yum! Surprisingly easy and look fantastic. I had these at a restaurant and then went on a hunt to find a similar recipe. Found one online and tweaked it some. If you use thick cut bacon, par-cook it some before wrapping dates.

Provided by Charmie777

Categories     Pork

Time 30m

Yield 24 dates, 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
6 ounces goat cheese
24 pitted dates
1 lb bacon (see note)

Steps:

  • Simmer balsamic vinegar in small saucepan until reduced by half. Syrup will be thick. Set aside.
  • Mix almonds into goat cheese.
  • Cut small slit in dates and stuff with small amount of cheese mixture.
  • Cut each bacon slice into 3 pieces. (Par-cook if thick sliced.) Wrap piece of bacon around each date, and secure with toothpick.
  • Place on foil-lined baking sheet.
  • Broil for about 10 minutes, turning over when browned on first side. Be careful as they can burn quickly.
  • Arrange on serving platter and drizzle with reserved balsamic reduction.
