Yield 1-1/2 cups.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 can (15 ounces) garbanzo beans or chickpeas, rinsed and drained
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 green onion, cut into 3 pieces
1 to 2 garlic cloves, peeled
1/4 teaspoon salt
Assorted fresh vegetables and baked pita chips

Steps:

  • In a food processor, combine the first 7 ingredients; cover and process until blended. Transfer to a bowl. Refrigerate until serving. Serve with vegetables and pita chips.

'Angry' Italian Bean Spread image

With its 'angry' spice and robust garlic flavor, this classic Italian spread offers one delicious bite after another.

¼ cup packed Italian parsley leaves
2 cloves garlic, peeled
2 (15 ounce) cans red beans, rinsed and drained
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
¾ cup BUITONI® Refrigerated Arrabbiata Sauce
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Crackers or grilled bread

Steps:

  • Combine parsley and garlic in food processor; process for 30 seconds. Add beans, salt and pepper; process for 1 minute. Scrape down sides of bowl; process for 30 seconds. With processor running, add sauce and oil. Process for 30 seconds or until smooth.
  • Serve with crackers or grilled bread.
