If your household is like any of the others that have enjoyed this dip, I can tell you that it will disappear in minutes. It's quite substantial, so it needs a good, thick chip or melba toast for scooping-pass on the thin potato chips for this one. Or, you know, a spoon dipped straight into the pan works, too. I'm not judging!

AIR FRYER JALAPEñO POPPERS
We have a high bar for jalapeño poppers, and this easy air-fryer version surpasses it. In our books the jalapeño itself needs to be cooked through but still sturdy enough to support all the filling. This recipe calls for large jalapeños, which fit more filling than smaller ones and tend to be sturdier. The molten cheese will not spill out of these poppers thanks to the way they are filled and rested for a few minutes in the air fryer after cooking. Finally, the breadcrumb coating remains crispy for a very long time because of the addition of crushed kettle potato chips.

Steps:
- Working with disposable rubber gloves to protect your skin, halve each jalapeño lengthwise, slicing through the stem. Remove the seeds and white ribs with a spoon or small melon baller. Arrange the halves on a baking sheet rounded sides down. If any of the halves tilt sideways instead of standing straight up, slice a sliver of skin off the rounded side, making sure not to cut through to the cavity, so they sit level.
- Add the cream cheese and Cheddar to a small bowl and mix together with a rubber spatula until combined. Stir together the breadcrumbs and potato chips in a medium bowl.
- Divide the cream cheese mixture among the jalapeño halves, smoothing it down with your finger or the back of a butter knife so the filling is level with the top of the jalapeno, not mounded. (You may have extra filling depending on how large your jalapenos are.) Firmly press the breadcrumb mixture over the cream cheese to fully coat. Spray the breadcrumbs with nonstick spray.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F and set to cook for 4 minutes. Arrange the poppers in a single layer in the basket so they're not touching, working in batches if necessary. Air fry the poppers without opening the basket to check on them. When the air fryer turns off, let the poppers sit in the basket for another 4 minutes without opening the machine. (this will allow the poppers to cool slightly and the cheese to set so it doesn't slide out-don't worry, it'll still be gooey.)
- Carefully open the air fryer basket and remove each popper with a spatula. Serve the poppers sprinkled with the bacon.
AIR-FRYER JALAPEñO POPPERS
The perfect football-party food, classic jalapeño poppers get a crispy upgrade in an air fryer. Cream cheese tempers the just-right hint of heat from the pepper and Buffalo sauce. To save time, you can stuff the peppers ahead of the party and fry them just before serving.

- Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan over high. Add jalapeños; cook, stirring occasionally for 3 minutes. Transfer jalapeños to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process; let stand for about 30 seconds. Transfer jalapeños to a plate lined with paper towels. Carefully make a slit vertically along the side of each jalapeño. Remove seeds and veins (gloves are best for this!). Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Stir together Cheddar, cream cheese, and 1/2 teaspoon of the salt in a medium bowl until combined. Fill each pepper with about 2 teaspoons of cheese filling; close slit to seal in cheese.
- Place flour in 1 shallow dish, eggs in a second shallow dish, and panko and remaining 1 teaspoon salt in a third dish. Dip stuffed jalapeños in eggs, allowing excess to drip off. Coat lightly in flour. Return coated jalapeños to egg dish for a second dip, and finally coat in panko.
- Turn the air-fryer to 375°F, and allow it to preheat 3 to 5 minutes. Coat the basket and breaded jalapeños with cooking spray. Add 4 jalapeños at a time to air-fryer. Cook until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes, turning half way through. Repeat with remaining jalapeños.

19 THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER COOK IN AN AIR FRYER
From mashed.com
Author Katherine PeachPublished 2020-08-07
- Fried food with wet batter. Beer batter on fried fish, corn dogs, and coated wings will crisp into a delicious shell when you fry in oil. The hot oil bath in a deep fryer sets the wet outer layer by rapidly drying the batter into the signature crispy coating.
- Broccoli. You may be dying to cook broccoli in your air fryer, but air fryers can allow food to get dry. Broccoli without any oil might even turn to dust.
- Entire roasts or whole chickens. If you're wondering if air fryers are just a gimmick, rest assured, this kitchen tool cooks much more than french fries and finger foods.
- Most cheese. Melting a classic grilled cheese or making homemade jalapeño poppers in an air fryer can cause issues. Flash-melting some Midwest cheese curds would be delicious, but similar to wet batter, the melt makes a big mess.
- Hamburgers. Hamburgers are a classic favorite, and everyone has a preference on how to prepare it. Many cooks pride themselves on their grill skills whether they're presenting the Midwest smash burger or insisting a patty cooked to perfection should wear only ketchup.
- Rice. Air fryers are designed to dry cook food by easily circulating hot air in the chamber. Similar to a convection oven, food is then evenly cooked at a high heat.
- Raw veggies. Certain veggies are real winners with an air fryer. Others are a real dud. Similar to how an air fryer broccoli recipe needs to play to the device's strengths, other raw veggies present a similar challenge.
- Dry seasonings. Despite the varied design, all air fryers operate by circulating hot air. A fan moves heat into the chamber so rapidly it's like a little wind tunnel.
- Olive oil. Air fryers are full of contradictions, but they can provide a simple and fun way to cook a meal. No, an air fryer isn't technically a "fryer" in the traditional sense.
- Delicate leafy greens. Greens in an air fryer need to be selected carefully. Vegetarian Mamma recommends avoiding delicate, leafy greens or any foods without some weight to them.
