CRISPY HAM AND CHEESE WAFFLES

Steps:
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, garlic powder, and onion powder, and stir to combine.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients, and add the eggs, oil, and milk.
- Whisk all ingredients together until a thin and slightly lumpy batter forms.
- Fold in the ham, cheese, and green onion if using.
- Pour the batter into your waffle iron according to manufacturers directions.
- When the waffle is done cooking, carefully place it on a wire rack to cool, taking care not to stack the waffles on top of each other. Repeat with remaining batter.
- Serve waffles hot.

- Fold the ham, cheese and pepper into the prepared waffle batter in a large bowl.
- Preheat a waffle iron and coat with cooking spray. Pour some batter into the waffle iron, spreading it into the corners. Close the lid and leave it closed until the waffles are cooked through and golden brown in spots, 6 to 8 minutes. Continue until all the batter has been used.
- Cut the waffles into sticks, transfer to plates and serve with maple syrup.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with the olive oil. Spread the vegetables in the bottom, then top with a layer of the cheeses, then the ham, and then the scallions.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt and red pepper flakes in a medium bowl. Pour the mixture over the layers and bake until lightly golden and the egg is set, about 50 minutes Allow the bake to sit for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
HAM-AND-CHEESE WAFFLEWICHES WITH KALE CHIPS

- Make the kale chips: Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F. Cut off the tough stems of the kale, then cut the leaves into 1 1/2-inch pieces. Toss the kale on a baking sheet with the olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt; spread in a single layer. Transfer to the oven and bake, flipping halfway through, until crisp, about 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, make the sandwiches: Combine the apple and honey mustard in a medium bowl. Spread evenly onto 4 frozen waffles and top with the ham and cheese. Cover with the remaining waffles to make 4 sandwiches.
- Heat 2 tablespoons butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the waffle sandwiches and cook until golden, about 3 minutes per side, adding the remaining 2 tablespoons butter when you flip. Remove to a cutting board and cut the sandwiches in half. Serve with the kale chips.

- Preheat the waffle iron.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and pepper to mix.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk and eggs until well blended.
- Pour the liquid ingredients over the dry ingredients and stir with the whisk until just combined.
- Fold in the shredded cheese and melted butter.
- Lightly butter or spray the grids of your waffle iron, if needed.
- Spoon out 1/2 of batter onto the grids, spreading it evenly.
- Close the lid and bake until the waffle is golden and set.
- Keep the waffles, in a single layer, on a cooling rack while you make the rest of the batch.
- You can make sandwiches with these waffles when they are hot, warm or at room temperature.
- Spread one side of each waffle with mustard.
- Divide the remaining ingredients evenly between the remaining waffles.
- Cut each sandwich into quarters.

- Preheat waffle iron on high until just beginning to smoke. Reduce heat to moderate and brush generously with some butter.
- Spread butter on 1 side of 8 bread slices and turn slices over. Top 4 slices with 1 slice ham and 1 slice cheese, folding in any overhang, then top with remaining 4 buttered bread slices, buttered sides up. Cook sandwiches in batches (number of batches will depend on size of your waffle maker) until bread is golden and crisp, 4 to 6 minutes.
