Easy Salisbury Steak Recipe ready in 30 minutes! Tender, juicy beef patties smothered in mushroom gravy. Serve Salisbury Steak over creamy mashed potatoes.

1 lb ground beef (90% lean)
1/2 onion (finely diced)
2 garlic cloves (minced)
1/3 cup panko bread crumbs
1 large egg
1 ½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp mayonnaise
1 tsp sea salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 ½ tsp Italian seasoning
1 Tbsp ketchup
1 ½ tsp milk ((whole milk or any kind))
2 tsp Dijon mustard
1 Tbsp olive oil (to sautee)
1/2 yellow onion (finely diced)
1 Tbsp unsalted butter
8 oz brown mushrooms (sliced)
2 garlic cloves (minced)
2 Tbsp all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup beef broth (+ 1/2 cup water)
½ tsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp Dijon mustard
2 tsp ketchup
¼ tsp sea salt
⅛ tsp ground black pepper

Steps:

  • In a bowl combine all of the ingredients for the beef patties (except the oil). Mix until well incorporated and shape into 4 oval or round patties flattening the center for even thickness throughout.
  • Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a non-stick pan, once hot, add patties to the skillet and cook until patties are golden brown on both sides and fully cooked. Remove the patties from the skillet and cover to keep warm.
  • Sauté ½ onion (you can also slice onion into thin slices, whatever your personal preference is) in the same skillet. Once the onion starts to become tender, add the garlic and butter and mix.
  • Add the mushrooms and sauté until browned, mixing frequently. Lightly season with salt and pepper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together all of the remaining gravy ingredients: 2 Tbsp flour, 1 1/2 cups broth, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 tsp Worcestershire, 1/2 tsp dijon, 2 tsp ketchup, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/8 tsp pepper. Pour into the mushrooms and cook until the gravy thickens.
  • Add the patties back to the pan and completely cover with the gravy and mushrooms and cook just until patties are heated through.

Delicious and easy I love being able to use stuff already in the house to make dinner. I threw this together this evening and it was a winner. Served it with corn on the cob and smashed new potatoes.

1 lb ground sirloin
1 egg
1/2 cup whole wheat bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package Lipton Onion Soup Mix
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 cups water
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 (1 1/4 ounce) package instant brown gravy mix

Steps:

  • Mix first four ingredients together.
  • Add 2/3 package of the soup mix to the meat mixture and stir together by hand.
  • Make 4 or 5 small patties a little larger than a palm of your hand.
  • I pan fried mine for about 2 minutes per side in nonstick skillet and then placed in casserole dish.
  • I cooked the sliced onions till carmelized and set to the side.
  • In the same pan I poured 1 1/2 cups of the water in and brought to boil.
  • In measuring cup i added the package of gravy mix and the other 1/3 package of soup mix with the other 1/2 cup water. Once water boiling add gravy soup mixture cook til thickened.
  • Once gravy is thick pour over patties and baked in the oven for 45 minutes on 350.
  • Plate and put 1/4 of cooked onion on patty.
  • Serve with sides and enjoy.

When I was a kid, we didn't have smartphones or the internet, all we had was a TV. But we didn't care because as we watched, we got to enjoy a little something called a "TV dinner." The king of those dinners, in my opinion, was the Salisbury steak, which is what I'll show you how to make here, along with one of the greatest gravies ever invented. Serve with buttered mashed potatoes and a vegetable side of your choice.

1 pound 85% lean ground beef
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dry mustard
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 large egg, beaten
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste
½ cup plain bread crumbs
2 tablespoons salted butter
12 large white button mushrooms, sliced
1 cup diced onion
1 pinch salt
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3 cups high-quality, low-sodium beef broth
salt to taste
2 tablespoons salted butter

Steps:

  • Combine beef, black pepper, dry mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire, soy sauce, egg, cayenne, and bread crumbs in a mixing bowl. Use a fork or your hands to stir the ingredients until very evenly distributed.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours, or up to overnight.
  • While the meat is resting, melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large nonstick pan over high heat; add mushrooms, onions, and a pinch of salt. Saute, stirring occasionally, until very nicely browned, 5 to 8 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and add flour. Cook and stir for 3 minutes.
  • Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth; increase heat to high. Bring to a simmer; reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens slightly and reduces, about 10 minutes. Taste and adjust salt as needed. Transfer to a glass measuring cup, scraping the pan clean with a spatula, and reserve.
  • Remove meat from the refrigerator and divide into 4 equal portions. Moisten hands and form into oval patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Season both sides of the patties lightly with salt.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons butter in the previously used nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook until browned, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Pour in gravy and bring to a simmer; reduce heat to medium and continue to cook until gravy is piping hot, and the meat is just cooked through and springs back lightly when touched, about 5 minutes.

This is so easy and always turns out. Mashed potatoes or rice go well with this dish. You can make this a very elegant or casual dinner. It also reheats well.

1/2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs (or soak a fresh piece of bread in water a few minutes, squeeze out water and tear up bread into meat)
1 egg
2 -3 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
1 pinch oregano
fresh salt & pepper
flour (for dredging)
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, heated
1 package dry onion soup mix
1 can beer or 3/4 cup ginger ale (I prefer the first two because the gingerale makes it sweet...children prefer the gingerale)
1/2 cup water, if sauce is too thick add more
1/2-1 cup freshly sliced mushrooms (optional)

Steps:

  • In a medium size bowl mix meats, water, crumbs, egg, and spices.
  • Make rounded balls the size of your palm and slightly flatten to resemble a hamburger but not quite as flat.
  • Now roll in flour.
  • Pat on so it sticks well.
  • Put into heated oil and brown quickly on all sides.
  • Don't cook it through.
  • This is just to seal it.
  • Pour off excess grease, if any.
  • Pour in wine,water, and the pkg.
  • of onion soup.
  • (and the mushrooms if you like) Turn heat Medium-High only until it starts to cook then done to Simmer on stove top.
  • Let it simmer until the steaks are tender about 20-25 min.
  • If you like more gravy, in a jar with a lid put 2 Tblsp.
  • flour and 2 Tblsp.
  • cold water,cover quickly and shake vigorously.
  • This will take out the lumps.
  • Take out the steaks, pour in the flour/water mixture into the gravy already in the pan.
  • Stir until the right consistency.
  • If the gravy seems a little light in color add a little gravy master to it and a few grinds of the pepper mill.

You will love this quick and easy recipe! This seems to be a favorite among the men but of course everyone will love it. Id make a side of mashed potatoes and pick a fresh veggie to go along. You can make your own brown gravy or use a different mix, but this is what I've used. I hope you enjoy.

1 lb ground beef or 1 lb ground turkey
1 cup crushed saltine crackers
1/2 diced onion
1 egg
3 (1 ounce) packages mccormick brown gravy mix

Steps:

  • Combine first four ingredients in a large bowl.
  • The meat will seem thin.
  • roll the mixture into 4 or 5 balls depending on how big you want your patties.
  • And place in fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Flatten the balls into patties and in a large frying pan brown each side.
  • Do not cook all the way.
  • Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Empty the pan from anything left over and add the brown gravy mix as instructed on the package.
  • When the gravy comes to a boil add the patties and allow to cook uncovered on low for about 15 minutes--the longer the more tender.

1/4 teaspoon dried sage
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 lb ground round
2 tablespoons oil
1 cup chopped onion

Steps:

  • Mix flour, sage, salt and pepper together.
  • Form ground round into 4 oval steaks and dredge in seasoned flour.
  • Reserve remaining flour for gravy.
  • Cook steaks in oil until browned, 3 to 5 minutes on each side.
  • Remove steaks from pan.
  • Add onions to skillet and cook over medium heat until very brown.
  • Spread remainder of seasoned flour over bottom of pan and stir until brown.
  • Slowly add water, stirring until it begins to boil.
  • Add milk, stirring constantly.
  • Return steaks to gravy for about 5 minutes.
  • Cover and turn off the heat and let stand for a few minutes to allow the meat to absorb the flavors.
