MY MOTHER-IN-LAW'S PLUM BREAD
A cross between a cake and a loaf bread, with sweet-tart plums and a brown sugar topping. Just like my mother-in-law used to make. Use plain, lemon, or orange yogurt.

I have a plum tree in my back yard, It produces a huge amount of small sweet purple plums every year. I try to find different recipes to use them in. This bread is sweet with the small bits of chopped plum giving it a subtle tartness, Really good along with a hot cup of coffee or tea

SUGARPLUM BREAD
What a lovely bread to serve at Christmas time--visions of sugar plums. I make a lot of sweet breads at the holidays and my family enjoys them. Baking is one of my hobbies which I cherish dearly. Slivered almonds can be substituted for pine nuts.

SUGARPLUM CHRISTMAS CANDY
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Place the chopped dates, walnuts, cranberries, prunes, and hazelnuts in the food processor . Pulse the mixture a few times.
- Add the cherry preserves, cinnamon , and cloves, and pulse several more times until the mixture begins to come together. It should hold itself in a ball when you squeeze it between your fingers. You want to retain some of the coarse texture. Do not overprocess it into a sticky paste.
- Roll the candy into small 1-inch balls. Then roll the balls in the granulated sugar until they are fully covered with the sugar.
- Store the finished sugarplums in an airtight container between layers of waxed paper until you are ready to serve them. Sugarplums can be kept refrigerated, for up to one month.
- Enjoy.

SUGAR PLUM BREAD WITH HOMEMADE BUTTER
This was my very first attempt at bread and has become a constant in our house. This is one of those things that just says "Christmas", but good any time of year. Freezes well. Our son became the 'official' butter maker when he was only 4. Great fun and wonderful memories. NOTE: Prep time does not include 3-1/2 hours of rising time.

- Finely chop the prunes, then pour all the dried fruit and brewed Earl Grey tea into a medium-sized bowl. Mix until the fruit is coated in tea, then cover and set aside to soak while you make the bread dough. Stir it occasionally.
- Stir together the milk, butter, and lard in a small saucepan over medium heat until the fats are fully melted. Make sure it doesn't get hotter than 115 F, or it may kill the yeast.
- Crack the two eggs into the bowl of a stand mixer, then mix them with a whisk. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the eggs, whisking the whole time. Stir the salt, sugar, and spices into the mixture until well blended, then whisk in the yeast.
- Put the bowl in the mixer and fit it with the paddle attachment. Turn the mixer on low speed and gradually add the flour until a smooth, somewhat sticky dough forms. You may not need all the flour, or you could need a little extra, depending upon the brand of flour you're using.
