12 slices hearty rye bread
12 teaspoons mayonnaise
18 slices cheddar cheese
3 small tomatoes, thinly sliced
1-1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
6 thin slices sweet onion
1 medium ripe avocado, peeled and cut into 12 wedges
12 teaspoons butter, softened

Steps:

  • Spread each of six bread slices with 1 teaspoon mayonnaise. Layer with a cheese slice, tomatoes, mushrooms, another cheese slice, onion, 2 avocado wedges and remaining cheese slice. Spread remaining bread with remaining mayonnaise; place on top. , Butter outsides of sandwiches. Toast on a heated griddle for 2-3 minutes on each side or until bread is lightly browned and cheese is melted.

Number Of Ingredients 6

6 fresh French rolls (I used these wonderful rolls I got from my local Mexican market. Other white rolls would be great to)
6 links hot sausage, Louisiana
1/3 cup sliced onion
2 tablespoons butter
4 teaspoons hot English mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Heat skillet on medium.
  • Add 1 tablespoon butter and place split roll face down in pan.
  • Allow roll to grill until desired level of golden-brown crispiness is reached. Remove roll from pan.
  • Add 1 tablespoon butter and onions to pan. Salt onions. Saute onions until soft and caramelized. Remove onions.
  • Split sausage lengthwise and place face down on pan. Grill until desired level of doneness is reached (I like mine heavily blackened and crispy) Flip sausage and cook other side.
  • Place onions and sausage on grilled rolls. Smear hot mustard on sausage. Serve and enjoy!

  • 1. Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high flame.
  • 2. Butter the bread.
  • 3. Sprinkle parmesan on the buttered bread; press with knife so the cheese sticks.
  • 4. Build a cheese sandwich, buttered sides out.
  • 5. Cook till golden.
  • 6. Die and go to heaven.

2 slices white sandwich bread, such as country white bread
4 teaspoons salted butter, at room temperature
4 slices American cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat a griddle or nonstick skillet to medium-low. Spread 2 teaspoons of the butter on one side of a bread slice. Repeat with the remaining butter and bread. Place one of the slices butter-side down and shingle the cheese on top, covering the entire surface. Top with the other slice of bread, butter-side up.
  • Place the sandwich on the griddle and cook until the bottom is golden brown and crisp, 3 to 4 minutes. If the bread is browning too quickly, shift the griddle off the heat. Flip the sandwich, then cover with a small metal bowl and cook until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese is melted, 3 to 4 minutes. Once golden brown on both sides, toast the edges of the sandwich, if desired. Transfer to a cutting board, cut in half on the bias and serve immediately.
