Categories     Dessert

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 13

3 eggs
100g (½ cup) sugar
75g (⅓ cup) butter, melted
125g (1 cup) flour
22.5ml (1½ tbsp) baking powder
375ml (1½ cups) milk
1 vanilla pod, split in half
4 egg yolks
75g (⅓ cup) caster sugar
25g (4 tbsp) flour
450g (3 cups) strawberries, washed and hulled
100g (⅔ cup) white chocolate, melted
30g (⅓ cup) slivered almonds, toasted

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F / gas mark 4.
  • Grease a 30cm (12in) sponge flan baking pan with butter, then dust with flour & set aside.
  • Place eggs, sugar and butter into a large bowl and mix together with a blender until fluffy, which should take about 3 minutes.
  • Sieve the flour and baking powder into the egg mixture, then whisk.
  • Pour the contents into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 12 - 15 minutes until golden brown. Remove the sponge flan from the oven, and carefully tip it out onto a cooling rack to allow it to cool completely.
  • Place the milk and vanilla pod in a pan and heat through. Remove from the heat.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks and sugar.
  • Add the flour and a bit of the warm milk and stir.
  • Add this mixture to the rest of the warm vanilla milk which is still in the saucepan.
  • Whisk over a medium heat until smooth and thickened, which should take about 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool completely.
  • When the pastry case and custard have cooled down completely, fill the pastry case up to the brim with custard.
  • Arrange the strawberries on top and drizzle with melted white chocolate and sprinkle with almonds.
  • Serve immediately with whipped cream or ice cream, plus extra strawberries. Enjoy!

STRAWBERRY FLAN JELLO CAKE RECIPE

Strawberry Flan Jello Cake Recipe image

This decadent strawberry Flan Jello Cake Recipe is a 3 in 1. A Cake and flan encased in a refreshing jello shell. A showstopper dessert for any occasion.

Provided by Tiffany Bendayan

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 Strawberry Cake Mix*
1 cup Water
1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
3 eggs
4 Eggs
8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
1 can Condensed Milk
1 1/4 cups Milk
1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
6 oz box Strawberry Jello (the big box)
4 cups Milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Spray a Bundt Pan (15 cups) with Nonstick Spray
  • Follow the instructions on the box to prepare the Strawberry Cake. Pour batter into the bundt pan. Shake it to distribute the batter evenly
  • For flan: place the milk, eggs, condensed milk, vanilla, and cream cheese in a blender. Blend until creamy
  • Pour the flan mixture on top of the strawberry mixture. Use a circular motion to distribute the flan batter evenly. During the baking process, the layers interchange so the flan goes to the bottom and the strawberry cake rises to the top
  • Cover the bundt pan with aluminum foil
  • Place bundt pan inside a larger pan filled with 2 inches of boiling water. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for 30 minutes on the counter before placing in the fridge to cool overnight
  • Unmold the cake onto a plate and place in the fridge while making the jello layer
  • Clean the bundt pan and lightly spray it with nonstick spray
  • For Jello layer, cook 2 cups of milk with the jello on medium heat while whisking. When the milk boils, keep whisking for 2-3 minutes or until the jello has completely dissolved
  • Strain into a bowl and add the remaining 2 cups and milk and stir. Let it cool slightly
  • Flip back the cake back in the bundt pan. Carefully add a piping bag between the mold and the cake. Add the jello mixture in the piping bag until the cake starts floating in the jello. Leave some liquid jello for the top
  • Place cake back in the fridge and top with remaining jello
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours or until jello has set
  • To unmold, use a hair dryer for a few seconds on the sides to loosen the jello
  • Enjoy!

STRAWBERRY JELLY CAKE

Strawberry Jelly Cake image

This layer cake is affectionately referred to as "Grandma's Cake" by many Southerners. Using jelly as the filling and the frosting is a wonderful way to add fruity flavor to a cake year-round. The jelly seeps into the cake, so there's no need to brush on a simple syrup to keep it moist. This recipe uses cake flour, which has less protein than all-purpose flour and yields a more tender crumb. But it can be prone to clumping. Sift it into the mixing bowl, or use a whisk to aerate it and break up any lumps. "Frost" the sides of the cake with jelly or buttercream, or just let it drip down the sides. When making this cake in the summer, you can top it with sliced fresh strawberries.

Time 1h30m

Yield 12 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

Nonstick baking spray
3 cups/385 grams cake flour, plus more for flouring the pan
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon fine sea salt
1 cup/115 grams unsalted butter (2 sticks), at room temperature
2 cups/400 grams granulated sugar
4 large eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup/240 milliliters whole milk (or nondairy milk)
2 cups/480 grams strawberry jelly
1 cup/165 grams sliced fresh strawberries

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Using baking spray, grease and flour 3 (8- or 9-inch) cake pans.
  • Sift the 3 cups cake flour and the baking powder into a medium bowl. Add the salt and stir to combine.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, or a large bowl using an electric mixer, combine the butter and sugar. Beat on medium until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating until each is incorporated before adding the next. Add the vanilla extract.
  • Reduce the mixer speed to low, and alternate adding the flour mixture and milk, one third at a time, until both are fully incorporated.
  • Scrape down the mixer attachments, and the sides and bottom of the bowl. Beat just until the batter comes together. (Don't overmix.) Pour the batter evenly into the cake pans.
  • Bake until the cake is browned on top, and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean, about 25 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and place the cake pans on a wire rack. Let the cakes cool in the pans completely, about 30 minutes, before inverting onto the rack.
  • Once the cake layers are cool, add the strawberry jelly to a small bowl and microwave in 10-second intervals, just until the jelly becomes spreadable.
  • To assemble, place a layer of cake on the serving dish, then spread ½ cup of jelly on top. Repeat with the remaining two layers, adding more jelly on top to drizzle down the cake. Top with fresh, sliced strawberries.
