SPICY PENNE ARRABBIATA RECIPE
This penne arrabbiata recipe brings the classic Italian dish to a whole new level with lots of chili flakes and extra spicy peppers. If you like your pasta spicy, this is for you!

Steps:
- Heat a large pan to medium heat and add the olive oil.
- Add the onion and peppers. Cook them down for 5 minutes or until soft.
- Add the garlic and pepper flakes; stir to coat. Cook until fragrant, about a minute. Add the diced tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and hot soppressata. Season with salt and pepper. Stir and reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- While the sauce is cooking, prepare your noodles according to the packaging instructions. Drain, but reserve about a cup (240 mof the pasta water. Stir a half cup (120 mof the pasta water into the sauce to loosen it up. Stir in more pasta water, if needed.
- Stir in the noodles, then garnish with fresh chopped basil and extra crushed red pepper. Drizzle with extra olive oil and serve.

- Cook pasta according to package directions in (4-qt.) Casserole; drain and keep warm.Meanwhile, cook sausage in (12-in.) Skillet over medium-high heat 14-16 minutes or until sausage is lightly browned and no longer pink, turning occasionally. Remove sausages from skillet; cut diagonally into 1-inch pieces and set aside. Cut bell peppers into 1/4-inch strips using Chef's Knife. Coarsely chop onion using Food Chopper.In same skillet, cook bell peppers, onion and garlic pressed with Garlic Press over medium heat 6-8 minutes or until peppers are crisp-tender, stirring occasionally. Add sausage, tomatoes, tomato sauce and Italian Seasoning Mix. Cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until heated through.Place pasta in large bowl; pour sauce mixture over pasta, tossing to coat. PENNE WITH SPICY SAUSAGE
Steps:
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned. Transfer to a bowl.
- Add the onion to the saucepan and cook, stirring, until coated with the sausage drippings. Reduce the heat slightly and add the garlic, oregano and red pepper flakes. Stir until the mixture has softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce to the onion mixture. Stir until fully combined. Season with salt and pepper and stir in the cooked sausage. Reduce heat to low and gently simmer the sauce, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 25 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the penne and cook until just tender, 8 to 10 minutes. Drain and transfer to a serving bowl. Add the sauce, sprinkle with Parmesan, if using, toss and serve.
SPICY ARRABIATA PENNE

- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add kosher salt to the boiling water, then add the pasta. Cook according to the package instructions, about 9 minutes.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil and heat until the oil starts to shimmer. Add the garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the chopped tomatoes, red chile flakes, Italian seasoning and salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the chopped basil.
- Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce. Garnish with Parmigiano-Reggiano flakes and more basil and serve warm.

SPICY SEAFOOD AND PENNE
This great recipe came from a December 1995 issue of Woman's Day magazine. It's so hearty and flavorful - great with garlic bread and a nice green salad.

Steps:
- Chop the onion. Mince the garlic. Peel and devein the shrimp, and cut in half lengthwise.
- Heat the oil in a large saucepan. Add onion and garlic and cook about 2 minutes, until onion is translucent.
- Stir in both cans of tomatoes (with juice), salt, crushed red pepper, and black pepper. Crush tomatoes with a fork and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes.
- While sauce is cooking, bring a large pot of water to boil and cook penne for about 9 minutes, until slightly underdone. Drain and set aside.
- In a large, deep skillet, melt the butter. Add shrimp and cook over medium heat 2-3 minutes, just until pink. Add scallops and stir 10 seconds, just until outsides are white. Remove skillet from heat.
- Add pasta, sauce, peas, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, and basil. Stir to mix well.
- Grease a 13x9 baking dish. Spoon pasta mixture into dish and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 minutes longer, until heated through and top is lightly browned.
