I like to call this cake an "All American Comfy Cake" delicious! This cake has been around for many years and served in many homes I am sure....but a cake worth sharing time and time again. I thought it was so good that I submitted it into our church cookbook. *Google pic*

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 350.
- 2. Pour pie filling into a greased 9x13 inch pan.
- 3. Sprinkle cake dry mix over pie filling.
- 4. Pour melted butter over top of cake mix.
- 5. Top with nuts.
- 6. Bake for 35-40 minutes.
- 7. Serve with a dollop of cool whip or scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Yummy!
APPLE SPICE DUMP CAKE
I found this on a holiday food website and since I have always made the cherry dump cake, I thought it sounded good for a change during the holidays. I made it to try it out on the family and they all loved it. My mom asked me to bring it for Thanksgiving dessert. So, I think it's a keeper. Obviously, there will be some of you who don't like it because everybody has different tastes but that's ok. It keeps us from being boring...lol.

Steps:
- Pre-heat oven to 350.
- Put apples in a large microwave safe bowl and drizzle them with 2 tbsp apple juice.
- Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high about 5 minutes. Stir and microwave another 5 minutes until apples are tender.
- Stir apple pie filling into the cooked apples.
- Pour apple mixture into a 9x13 baking dish that has been sprayed with non-stick spray.
- In a small bowl, mix cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and sugar.
- Sprinkle over apples.
- Pour dry cake mix over the apples.
- Scatter the nuts on top.
- Combine butter (or margarine), syrup and the other 5 Tbsp apple juice and cook on high 2 minutes or until margarine is well melted. Stir well to combine.
- Drizzle evenly over cake mix and nuts, making sure the edges are well covered too.
- Bake at 350 for 45-60 minutes or until cake is light golden brown and bubbling on the sides.Take care not to let it get too brown.
- Let cool completely and serve with French Vanilla Cool Whip. Or, you can serve it warm with vanilla ice cream.

BACKCOUNTRY APPLE DUMP CAKE
This 3-ingredient recipe can be made at home in a conventional pan or in a dutch oven over an open fire. Super-easy and delicious! It is my "signature" dessert that I make for guests on packtrips, and at home I make a healthier version of it for myself (since I end up eating the whole thing).

- For conventional oven:.
- Spray bottom of a 9x13 inch pan with cooking spray and pour in the apple pie filling. (For a lighter version, use 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce).
- Pour in the spice cake mix ontop.
- Cut up butter or margarine and place in dollops ontop of the cake mix. NOTE: When I make this at home I omit all butter and increase water to 1 cup to make it healthier, but if you want the real deal use the butter.
- Pour 1/2 cup of water slowly overtop.
- Bake at 350 degrees about 20 minutes*IMPORTANT* After the first five minutes or so take the pan out and stir the mixture so that the water gets evenly distributed throughout the cake, otherwise the top will burn.
- For Dutch oven:.
- Spray the bottom of a 10 or 12 inch dutch oven with cooking spray (I used 12 inch) and pour in the apple pie filling.
- Pour the spice cake mix overtop.
- Cut up the butter or margarine and put dollops ontop.
- Slowly pour 1/2 cup of water overtop.
- Place in the coals of a small/medium fire and shovel coals ontop of the oven for even baking.
- After about 5 minutes of baking, remove oven from fire and stir well the contents.
- ROTATE the dutch oven approximately every 5 to 10 minutes to prevent one side from burning. Depending on heat it takes 25-45 minutes to cook. Pull the dutch oven out of the fire when the center of the cake is springy but not hard, as the cake will continue baking until it is served.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
- Spread apple pie filling in an even layer on the bottom of the pan. Drizzle caramel sauce evenly over apples. Sprinkle cake mix evenly over apples and caramel. Drizzle melted butter evenly over cake mix. Sprinkle evenly with chopped walnuts.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease bottom and sides of a 9 X 13 inch cake pan.
- Dump spice cake mix into a large mixing bowl. Using a fork, work out any large lumps of mix.
