SANGRIA BY THE PROS
I found a good sangria recipe and headed to the liquor store to purchase the alcohol. In line, ahead of me, was a man who said he has been a bartender for twenty years now, and that the recipe needed a few touch-ups if I wanted to make it like the Pros. So, here is what he professed to me, muchos thanks to the other submitters for their delicious versions.

THE BEST SANGRIA
The longer sangria sits before drinking, the more smooth and mellow it will taste. A full day is best, but if that's impossible, give it an absolute minimum of two hours to sit. Use large, heavy, juicy oranges and lemons for the best flavor. Doubling or tripling the recipe is fine, but you'll have to switch to a large punch bowl in place of the pitcher. - Before serving, add 6 to 8 ice cubes and stir briskly to distribute settled fruit and pulp; serve immediately.

Steps:
- Put 1/4 cup each sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat; simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool completely. Pour one 750-ml bottle fruity red wine into a medium saucepan and reduce over medium heat until about 2 1/2 cups remain, about 10 minutes. Add the cooled simple syrup, 1 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice, 2 tablespoons each corn syrup, orange juice and red grape juice, and 2 each chopped apples, oranges and pears. Refrigerate and let steep overnight. Strain the mixture and fill ice pop molds; freeze until solid, 12 hours or overnight.

THE WORLD'S BEST SANGRIA
I found this on the internet a long time ago and it's a hit at parties. I've never added the brandy though, but I've left it in the recipe. *Note: Time to make includes the 18 hour chill time!*
