RANCH SAUCE

Ranch Sauce image

This Homemade Ranch Sauce recipe yields a creamy, and delicious sauce loaded with traditional ranch dressing flavors. Seasonings of dill, onion, and garlic, and tang of sour cream is super addictive. If you have never tried Ranch Sauce then this yummy sauce is a must try! With only 10 minutes to prepare and pantry ingredients it is way easy to prepare from-scratch at home than you might imagine.Whether it is Sunday game day or a BBQ party.. Ranch Sauce is perfect dipper on side with Crudities, Potato Wedges, or Buffalo Wings. It is also gluten free. This Ranch Sauce recipe can be easily adapted to make salad dressing. When I serve Ranch Sauce as dip or drizzle on hearty snacks such as wings, potatoes.. I like sauce consistency creamy, thick that coat the potatoes as these are dipped into the sauce. Where as for salad dressing, sauce is best little thin, creamy yet pour-able. It should not weigh-down the delicate greens but make a nice lite creamy coating. To make ranch salad dressing increase the amount of liquid (milk, water) as suggested in notes of Recipe Card. Always remember to adjust seasonings to taste.Above is glimpse of Baked Ranch Potato with extra ranch-licious drizzle of Ranch Sauce. I highly recommend trying this Ranch Sauce with Ranch Potatoes.Until I perfected my homemade recipe, I always kept Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix in pantry. My homemade version is more flavorful, and also gives me freedom to make sauce at moment's notice without worrying to make a run to store. A quick mix of mayo, sour cream with ranch seasonings and sauce is ready. Isn't that easy? This Ranch Sauce has delicious garlicky ranch flavor that can't be missed. My secret to this is fresh garlic. Yes! I use fresh grated garlic instead of garlic powder. This makes a lot of difference in making Ranch Sauce tastier just as served in restaurants. This time, I drizzled Ranch Sauce on warm crispy Baked Potatoes. (picture above) I hope you will enjoy it as mush as we did.-Savita x

RANCH DRESSING

Ranch Dressing image

Merging several other recipes won me this rich dressing to serve with salad, veggie tray, or fried okra. Triple the herb mix and store the excess with your other spices. Use it for croutons, soups, and steamed veggies. Change-ups: Add 1 smashed chipotle pepper and the adobo sauce that clings to it to 1 cup of dressing. Great with Fish Tacos. OR Add 1 smashed avocado doused with lime juice to 1 cup of dressing. Great with anything.

Categories     Salad Dressings

Time 15m

Yield 2 cups, 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons msg
2 teaspoons black pepper
8 teaspoons dried parsley flakes, crushed between your palms
1 cup mayonnaise (Hellmann's style)
1/2 cup sour cream (I use Light. Do not use no-fat.)
1/2 cup buttermilk (Low-fat is okay. Do not use no-fat.)

Steps:

  • Herb Mix:.
  • Crush parsley flakes between your palms until they are the consistency of powder.
  • Add all other herb mix ingredients and blend well.
  • Store herb mix in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid for up to 3 months. [Mine never lasts that long.].
  • Dressing:.
  • Combine all ingredients and whip with a wire whisk.
  • Refrigerate for several hours before serving so that flavors can meld.
  • Allow dressing to sit out while you set-up the table. The full flavor develops better when the dressing is not refrigerator-cold.
  • HOWEVER, remember that you are dealing with dairy products. Refrigerate dressing as soon as the salad course is over.
  • Discard unused dressing according to expiration dates on your dairy products.

Season the dressing with additional fine sea salt. DO AHEAD: The dressing can be prepared ahead and refrigerated, in an airtight container, up to 1 week.

CLASSIC RANCH DRESSING

Classic Ranch Dressing image

The original dressing served in the 1950s at Hidden Valley Ranch, a guest ranch near Santa Barbara, Calif., was made mostly from dry herbs and aromatics. To recreate that taste, this recipe is made with garlic powder instead of garlic, dried parsley instead of fresh, and so on. It makes enough seasoning mix for about 4 cups dressing; you can mix it, store it, then add dairy as needed. If you don't like the zip of mustard, try hot sauce or Worcestershire sauce instead - or simply omit for a milder taste. To make a thick dip instead of a pourable dressing, reduce the amount of buttermilk to 1/4 cup.

Provided by Julia Moskin

Categories     dips and spreads, salads and dressings

Time 15m

Yield 4 to 5 cups dressing

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 1/2 teaspoons dried chives
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried dill
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
2 tablespoons buttermilk powder (optional)
1/2 cup chilled sour cream or mayonnaise
1/2 cup chilled buttermilk
Salt, to taste

Steps:

  • For the seasoning mix: In a bowl, whisk all the ingredients together. Taste and adjust the seasonings to your liking. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator until ready to use; it will keep indefinitely.
  • To make 1 cup dressing: In a medium bowl, place 1 tablespoon seasoning mix. Add sour cream and buttermilk and whisk together until smooth. Taste and add salt if needed. Serve immediately or refrigerate, covered, up to 2 days (or up to 2 weeks if made with mayonnaise).
