8 cups water
1 ½ cups lemon juice

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
  • Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. In pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups water.

  • Remove wide strips of zest from 2 lemons with a vegetable peeler (do not remove the pith). Make 2 cups simple syrup (recipe below), adding the lemon zest before heating. Let cool, then pour into an ice-filled pitcher. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 cups each fresh lemon juice and water, and some lemon slices.
  • Simple Syrup: To make 2 cups simple syrup, bring 1 1/2cups each sugar and water to a boil, stirring until dissolved. Let cool.

Found this recipe on "simply recipes". I wanted to make lemonade from scratch, real freshly squeezed lemons and simple syrup and I came across this recipe. Made this for my 6 year old and friends' lemonade stand sales, my pitcher never came home. Turns out my friend who helped the kids with the stand, liked my lemonade better than the powdered stuff, kept my lemonade for herself! Please do adjust to taste, I think the lemons I had were more tart so I added more simple syrup.

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 cup lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
3 -4 cups cold water

Steps:

  • Make simple syrup by heating the sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • While the sugar is dissolving, juice the lemons.
  • Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength.
  • Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet, add a little more juice.
  • Serve with ice and sliced lemons.

175g golden caster sugar
large handful of ice cubes , plus extra for serving

Steps:

  • Blitz the lemons in a food processor or blender with half of the sugar, some ice cubes and 500ml/18fl oz water. Strain the juice into a jug and reserve.
  • Tip the lemon pulp back into the food processor. Add the rest of the sugar, more ice cubes and 500ml/18fl oz water and blitz again. Strain this into the jug with the reserved juice (discard the pulp). Serve with lots of ice.
