This Oreo cream cheese frosting is rich, tangy, and packed with Oreo flavor!! It tastes amazing on cakes, cupcakes and cookies alike!

1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature (339 grams) - 3 sticks
1/2 cup full-fat cream cheese, room temperature (113 grams or 4 oz.)
1 Tbsp vanilla extract (12 grams)
1/2 tsp salt (3 grams)
7 cups powdered sugar (875 grams)
3 Tbsp heavy cream (or whipping cream) (45 grams)
1/2 cup oreo cookie crumbs, pulverized in a food processor or super finely chopped (45 grams)

Steps:

  • Beat 1 1/2 cups of butter and 1/2 cup cream cheese on a medium speed for 30 seconds with a paddle attachment until smooth.
  • Add in 1 Tbsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp salt and beat on low until combined.
  • Slowly mix in 7 cups powdered sugar on a very low speed. About halfway through add in 3 Tbsp of heavy cream to make the frosting easier to mix.
  • Mix until the frosting reaches the right consistency. If the frosting is too thick, add in additional cream (1 Tbsp at a time).
  • If the frosting is too thin, add in more powdered sugar (1/4 cup at a time).
  • Next mix in 1/2 cup of oreos crumbs on a low speed, mixing just until they're evenly distributed throughout the frosting. If you mix the Oreos in for too long it can make your frosting look kind of grey.
  • Cover the Oreo cream cheese frosting with a piece of plastic wrap, to prevent a crust from forming until you're ready to use it.

8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
3 cups powdered sugar (use more or less depending on how stiff you want the frosting to be)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup finely crushed Oreos (about 12 Oreos)

Steps:

  • Whip cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes on high speed with an electric mixer.
  • Mix in powdered sugar one cup at a time.
  • Mix in vanilla extract.
  • Mix in crushed Oreos.
  • Spread or pipe onto your favorite desserts.

8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
7 Tbsp Butter (room temperature)
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 Oreos (about 16 mini-oreos)
2 Tbsp Milk

Steps:

  • In a stand mixer, cream together cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and mix.
  • At med-low speed, mix in the powdered sugar. After mixed slightly, bump the speed up to medium or medium-high and whip until a firm consistency, about 2-5 minutes. It will thicken as you whip. If the frosting is too thick, add milk one tsp at a time until you reach the consistency you want.
  • In a food processor or manually, finely crush the oreos into crumbs (use the whole oreo and cream center).
  • With a rubber spatula or spoon, mix the oreos into the frosting.
  • Chill in refrigerator before piping if creating high topped cupcakes.

1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
⅔ cup cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
1 ⅓ cups white sugar
⅔ cup brown sugar
4 eggs
⅓ cup water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup sour cream
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, at room temperature
7 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups confectioners' sugar
18 chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo®)
2 tablespoons milk, or more as needed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease two 12-cup muffin tins or line cups with paper liners.
  • Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, espresso powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a bowl. Whisk in white sugar and brown sugar.
  • Beat eggs, water, and vanilla extract together in a separate bowl. Add sour cream and oil and beat well. Add egg mixture to the bowl with the flour mixture and mix well until no dry spots remain. Spoon batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each 3/4 full.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until tops spring back when lightly pressed, 18 to 20 minutes. Cool in the tins for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely, about 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place cream cheese and butter into the bowl of a stand mixer and cream together until smooth. Add vanilla extract and mix. Add confectioners' sugar and mix on medium-low speed; whip into a firm consistency, 2 to 5 minutes. Frosting will thicken as you whip. Add milk 1 tablespoon at a time to thin if necessary.
  • Crush whole cookies into crumbs in a food processor. Mix cookie crumbs into frosting using a rubber spatula. Chill frosting in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before piping onto cooled cupcakes.

  • Crush 9 of the cookies to fine crumbs in food processor; reserve for later use. (Cookies can also be finely crushed in a resealable plastic bag using a rolling pin.) Crush remaining 36 cookies to fine crumbs; place in medium bowl. Add cream cheese; mix until well blended. Roll cookie mixture into 42 balls, about 1-inch in diameter.
  • Dip balls in chocolate; place on wax paper-covered baking sheet. (Any leftover chocolate can be stored at room temperature for another use.) Sprinkle with reserved cookie crumbs.
  • Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. Store leftover truffles, covered, in refrigerator.

1 1/4 cups water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 egg whites
12 coarsely crushed Oreo cookies (crush additional cookies to sprinkle on top of the cake)
4 cups confectioners' sugar (may need more)
1/2 cup white shortening (if you don't mind a little yellow coloring you may use butter or half of each)
1/4 cup half-and-half cream or 1/4 cup milk

  • Set oven to 350°F.

1 1/2 cups crushed Oreo chocolate creme sandwich cookies (about 18 cookies)

  • Spray 9-inch square pan with baking spray with flour. In large microwavable bowl, microwave white chips uncovered on High in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until melted and smooth. Stir in frosting and 1 cup of the crushed cookies. Spread in pan.
