- In a bowl, put the meat, breadcrumbs, egg, onion and allspice with some seasoning. Mix well and form into about 20 small meatballs. Heat the oil in a frying pan, then brown and cook the meatballs in two batches. Serve with a bowl of cranberry sauce to dip in.
- Serve alongside a combination of smoked and cured fish like salmon, pickled herring, trout or mackerel. Add bowls of crème fraîche or soft cheese, capers, grainy mustard, diced red onion or chopped boiled eggs to accompany, as well as the dishes below.

SWEDISH MEATBALLS IN CRANBERRY SAUCE
Another great recipe from my grandmother! When she brought this to our last family gathering, we had to wrestle each other for them. I managed to get just one. But I have the recipe now! Mwahahaha! The toughest part of this is the onion. If you have a small grater, this will help nicely. What I will do when it comes time for simmering is combine everything in a crock pot so it's easy to take with me to parties.

MINI-MEATBALLS IN CRANBERRY SAUCE

- In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, bread crumbs, parsley, eggs, garlic, onion powder, basil and pepper.
- Mix well but do not overwork or meat will become tough when cooked.
- Form into small balls the size of a walnut or smaller.
- Place meatballs in a slow oven of 300 degrees F and bake for 25 minutes.
- In the meantime, in a crock pot set at 325 degrees F, mix together the cranberry sauce (if you so desire, you can use jellied. I prefer the whole berry.) Add remaining sauce ingredients.
- When meatballs are baked, transfer them to the crock pot and stir into the sauce.
- Cook in crock pot for 1 hour.
- Lower heat to keep warm for serving.

Beef meat balls with crushed strawberry flavored mini wheats and cooked in a cranberry sauce. Serve as an appetizer or with a salad. I had some crushed cereal in the bottom of the sack and developed the recipe.

Steps:
- Beat eggs with water until frothy in small bowl.
- In large metal bowl add ground meat, crushed cereal and salt. mix well.
- Add beaten eggs,basil and chinese 5 spice.
- Mix until blended. I use my hands.
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Form into 2 inch meat balls.
- Place on a baking tray.
- Bake 20 to 30 minutes.
- During baking turn over with tongs.
- Cool.
- In large crockpot,add 1 tblsp olive oil. Wipe it around the bottom and sides of the crockpot.
- Add two cans of cranberry sauce or your homemade sauce.
- Add meat balls.
- Cover with cranberry sauce.
- Cover and cook from 2 hrs to 6 hours High heat the first hour and low heat the remaining time. It is a make ahead recipe.
- Add water or cranberry juice if the sauce is getting too thick.

- In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the first six ingredients; stir until sugar is dissolved.
