PERFECT SUMMER FRUIT SALAD
The perfect fruit salad for a backyard bbq or any occasion. There are never leftovers! This is one of my favorite fruit salad recipes, as I think the sauce really makes it. This salad is tastier the longer you can let it soak in its juices. I prefer 3 to 4 hours in the refrigerator before I serve it. Enjoy.

Gently drizzle a small stream of good quality honey back and forth across top criss crossing, leaving about a 3 inch space between drizzles. COVER WITH PLASTIC WRAP AND CHILL 2 HOURS BEFORE SERVING, giving fruit flavors time to mix.
- 7. May serve with a spoonfull of CoolWhip if desired. *** This is a very attractive dish in large bowl and when served. You can add other fresh fruit to suit your taste. These are my favorites.

Steps:
- Prepare the fruit with a small serrated knife. Cut the top and bottom off the kiwi, stand it up on one of its flat surfaces and cut away the skin, keeping the knife as close to the skin as possible. Slice in half, following the core through the centre, then cut each half into slices. Put in a bowl and repeat with the other kiwi.
- Carefully cut the skin off the mango and slice off each cheek, running your knife as close to the stone as you can. Cut each piece into slices. Remove any remaining fruit from the stone in long thin slices. Add the mango to the kiwi.
- Top and tail the pineapple, then in a similar way to the kiwi, cut away the skin. Use your knife to go around the pineapple, taking out the divets or eyes, two to three at a time, you'll be left with a spiral pattern weaving around the outside of the fruit. Take of a circular slice, roughly 150g, quarter, remove the core then cut into chunks. Add to the bowl.
- Halve the grapes and add to the rest of the fruit along with the berries, you may want to slice or halve strawberries if they're large. Remove the peel from the orange using the same method as the kiwi and pineapple. Holding the orange over the bowl of fruit, remove the orange segments by carefully cutting between the membrane and the fruit. The pieces should fall out into the bowl along with any juice. Squeeze the membrane over the fruit to extract the juice, add a drizzle of honey, if you like. Mix everything together and leave in the fridge to macerate for 30 mins, if you have time.

- Wash and pat dry green grapes. You can add these whole or sliced lengthwise, depending on the size of the grapes. If you prefer, you can peel and slice the kiwi fruit and use those instead of the grapes.

SEVEN FRUIT SALAD RECIPES TO COOL YOU OFF THIS SUMMER
From bostonmagazine.com
Estimated Reading Time 3 mins
- Tropical Quinoa Salad. This fruit salad is made with tropical fruits like mango and kiwis, while quinoa provides some extra protein. A tangy dressing gives the salad some extra flavor and is made with fresh squeezed oranges, honey, lemon, and some dijon mustard.
- Rainbow Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Dressing. Seven different types of fruit are used in this salad, including fresh strawberries, fresh pineapple, grapes, blueberries, and bananas.
- Greek Yogurt Fruit Salad. For a creamy addition to your fruit salad, try this Greek yogurt sauce. Mix together Greek yogurt, light cream cheese, a dash of sugar, and vanilla.
- Mojito Fruit Salad. With this recipe, you can have your cocktails and eat them too. Watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew are some of the fruits used in this salad, but you can use whatever fruit you prefer.
- Watermelon Feta Blueberry Salad. Feta is a nice pairing with fruit because it adds a salty tang to balance out the sweetness. This recipe calls for mint leaves in the salad, but you could also try using basil.
- Grilled Fruit Salad. The best fruits to grillare ones that can hold up easily, such as peaches, nectarines, and pineapple. When grilling, make sure you grill for about three to four minutes so they begin to blacken and soften, but aren’t too mushy.
- Citrus Caprese Salad with Honey Vinaigrette. Instead of tomatoes, this salad uses citrus fruits, like oranges and grape fruits. Be sure to slice the citrus into thick wheels, similar to tomato slices.
10 WAYS TO TAKE YOUR SUMMER FRUIT SALAD FROM ... - FOOD HACKS
From food-hacks.wonderhowto.com
Estimated Reading Time 6 mins
- Choose Fruits That Are Equally Ripe. A common mistake that leads to a fruit salad flop is having pieces of fruit that are either too mushy or too crunchy.
- Take Advantage of Seasonal Fruits. It's true that you could probably find out-of-season mangos in winter, but then you would not only be sacrificing taste but your wallet would suffer, too.
- Add a Sprinkle of Herbs. No longer just a garnish that will be tossed aside, a dash of mint goes a long way in a fruit salad and adds a subtle bright flavor to complement the sweetness of berries, stone fruit, and melon.
- Measure Out All the Fruit Equally. There's nothing worse than being stuck with a spoonful of "filler fruit" when you dig into a fruit salad. Avoid this problem by measuring out all your fruit beforehand and making sure there are equal quantities of each one.
- Add a Squeeze of Citrus. You may have tried adding some lemon juice to keep your fruit salads fresh. Now take that a step further and add lime syrup to instantly liven up the flavor while keeping your fruit from browning.
- Macerate the Fruit. For a fix-it-and-forget-it fruit booster, macerating your fruit overnight in any liquid from liqueurs to simple syrup will do wonders for your salad.
- Make It into a Dessert with Yogurt or Whipped Cream. Adding plain yogurt or indulgent whipped cream to your fruit salad can instantly change it into a creamy, dreamy dessert.
- Use Only Fruits That Work Well in Fruit Salads. All fruits are not created equal when it comes to choosing the right ones for your fruit salad. It's important to take into consideration the flavors, textures, and durability of any fruits you are considering putting in your mix.
- Add a Crumbly Cheese. Another great way to boost flavor in your average fruit salad is by adding a salty, tangy cheese like feta. The acidity of the cheese mixes with the sweetness of the fruit, complementing each other without either overpowering the other.
- Transform It with a Grain. If you want to be adventurous, adding in a bit of a grain like quinoa can do wonders for your fruit salad. The grain adds heartiness to the dish that can change it from playing a supporting role to the superstar main event.

- In a second medium bowl, mix GREEN grapes and chopped Granny Smith apples. (As directed in the post, if desired, reserve a few green grapes and apple pieces to line the outside of your clear glass serving dish, before adding the yogurt dressing.) Then, stir 1/4 cup of the yogurt dressing mixture into the (remaining) green grapes and apples. Spoon this mixture evenly into the bottom of your serving bowl.
- In a third medium bowl, mix RED grapes, chopped Honeycrisp apples, cranberries, and 1/2 cup pomegranate arils. (As directed in the post, if desired, reserve a few red fruit pieces to line the outside of your dish, before adding the yogurt dressing.) Then, stir 1/4 cup of the yogurt dressing mixture into the (remaining) red fruit mixture. Spoon this mixture evenly into the serving bowl, on top of your green fruit layer.
- Evenly spread the remaining fruit salad dressing on top of the red layer, pushing it near the edge but not fully against the glass (so it doesn't drip down too much and slightly obscure the red layer beneath it).
