BOURBON CIDER SIPPER
Steps:
- For the clove simple syrup: Combine the brown sugar, cloves and 1 cup water in a pan and heat until the sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool and sit for 2 to 3 hours; strain off the cloves before using. (Store any remaining syrup in a sealed jar, refrigerated, for up to 1 week.)
- For the cocktail: Add the bourbon, lemon juice and clove simple syrup to a shaker and add ice. Shake vigorously and pour into a highball glass. Top with hard cider--and if you're feeling fancy--garnish with an apple slice studded with a few whole cloves. That part is optional though. As are pants.

- In a large nonreactive stock pot combine the apple juice, apple cider and cinnamon sticks.
- Bring to a full boil, reduce heat to a simmer.
- Simmer for 2 hours.
- Cool to room temperature.
- Add Everclear and chill.

- Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 3 1/2 to 4 hours or on high-heat setting for 2 hours. Add orange and lemon slices. Cover and cook for 30 minutes minutes more.
- Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large bowl; strain cider mixture. (Or use a slotted spoon to remove orange slices, lemon slice, and whole spices.) If using high-heat setting, turn cooker to low-heat setting. Pour the strained mixture back into the slow cooker to keep warm.
