- Identifying the Issue. How do you know if your dryer door switch is broken? If the light will not come on when you open the dryer door, it could be the light is burned out.
- Remove Screws Under Lint Filter. Remove the lint filter and unscrew the two Philips screws located underneath the filter.
- Remove the Top of the Dryer. Take a flat headed screwdriver (or similar device) and insert it between the top and the body of the dryer around 3-6 inches away from the edge.
- Note Orientation of Broken Switch. If you look down into the dryer, you should see the door switch. Make note of the orientation of the switch. You will want to install the replacement switch in the direction the old switch was facing.
- Removing the Broken Switch. If you open the dryer door and look up, you should see the door switch and the two Philips screws that hold it in. Remove these screws.
- Install New Switch. Insert the new switch into the frame from the top of the dryer. Replace the two screws that hold the switch in place.
