HOT TUNA AND EGG SALAD ROLLS



Hot Tuna and Egg Salad Rolls image

This recipe takes a tuna melt to a whole new level. Tuna salad mixed with cheese is piled into a hot dog roll and baked until warm and gooey.

2 (5 ounces each) cans tuna (drained and flaked)
4 ounces cheddar cheese (shredded or cut into small cubes)
4 hard cooked eggs (chopped)
1/3 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
2 tablespoons onion (finely chopped)
Optional: 6 large pimiento-stuffed olives (sliced, or 2 tablespoons chopped pimiento )
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 hot dog rolls

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • In a medium bowl, combine flaked tuna, cheese, chopped egg, mayonnaise, pickle relish, onion, sliced olives, if using, and salt; mix well.
  • Spoon tuna mixture into hot dog rolls; wrap each roll in foil. Place foil-wrapped sandwiches in the oven.
  • Bake for 10 minutes; serve hot.
  • Enjoy.

1 block (4 ounces) cheddar cheese, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
1 can (6 ounces) tuna, drained and flaked
3 hard-boiled large eggs, chopped
1/3 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 hot dog buns, split

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the first seven ingredients. Spread about 1/3 cup on bottoms of buns; replace tops. Wrap in foil. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

1 1/2 cups packaged coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage with carrot)
1 (9 1/4 ounce) can tuna in water, drained and broken into chunks
2 tablespoons mayonnaise or 2 tablespoons salad dressing
2 tablespoons buttermilk ranch salad dressing or 2 tablespoons creamy cucumber salad dressing
2 hoagie rolls, split and toasted
2 ounces cheddar cheese or 2 ounces swiss cheese, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • In a medium mixing bowl toss together shredded cabbage with carrot and tuna.
  • In a small mixing bowl stir together mayonnaise or salad dressing and ranch or cucumber salad dressing.
  • Toss salad dressing mixture with tuna mixture.
  • Spread tuna mixture evenly on the four halves of the hoagie buns.
  • Place on the unheated rack of a broiler pan.
  • Broil 4 to 5 inches from the heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until heated through.
  • Top with cheese.
  • Broil 30 to 60 seconds more or until cheese melts.

A tasty change from cheese on toast

200g can tuna , whatever type you've got in the cupboard
½ a bunch of spring onions , finely chopped
4 tbsp mayonnaise
3thick slices of granary or wholemeal bread
50g cheddar , coarsely grated
generous pinch of paprika

Steps:

  • Preheat the grill on its highest setting. Drain the tuna, flake it into a bowl and mix with the spring onions and mayonnaise. Season with salt and plenty of freshly ground black pepper.
  • Toast the bread under the grill until it's nicely browned on both sides, then spread the tuna mixture on top, right up to the edges of the toast. Scatter over the cheese and put back under the grill until the cheese is bubbling.
  • Slice in half, sprinkle with paprika and tuck in.

3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine, softened
1 envelope Italian salad dressing mix
6 hoagie rolls, split
1 lb sliced meat (salami, ham and/or turkey)
12 slices cheese (Swiss, cheddar, and/or provolone)

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the butter and Italian salad dressing mix until smooth.
  • Spread 1 tablespoon of butter mixture on the inside of each hoagie bun.
  • On the bottom of each hoagie bun, place one slice of meat, two slices of cheese then another slice of meat.
  • Place tops of buns onto sandwiches.
  • Spread 1 tablespoon butter mixture on the top of each bun.
