From Glenn Tankard's Tropical Fruit. The canistel, Pouteria campechiana, was well known to Central and South American pre-columbian civilisations. Other names for this fruit include yellow sapote, egg fruit, tiesa, arbol del hueva and huevo vegetal.

3/4 cup canistel
1 1/2 cups milk, cold
1 3/4 cups vanilla ice cream

Steps:

  • Mix the canistel and 1/2 cup of cold milk together in a blender.
  • Add the ice cream and the remainder of the milk and continue to blend.
  • Serve at once.
