"GLOP"

In the lean years of our marriage, I had to get pretty creative with a lb. of hamburger. This is just one of the staples that kept us going. We affectionately called it "Glop".

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb hamburger
1 can(s) cream of chicken or mushroom soup
1 pkg tater tots
1 can(s) corn
dash(es) salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Brown or boil and drain 1 lb. ground beef.
  • 2. Once drained of water and fat, mix in 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup. For an added taste, you can mix half and half mushroom and celery. Optional: Mix in a can of drained corn or your favorite veggie. I don't recommend frozen.
  • 3. In the baking dish, cover the top with tater tots. Bake at the temperature recommended on the tots package. The drop down menu has specific times on it but it's better to go with the package directions. Leave in a bit longer if you like your tots crispy. Serve with a salad and rolls. This is a cheap dish that is a hit with the "meat and potatoes" crowd.

Time 15m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 lb parmesan cheese (not too dry)
1/2 lb asiago cheese
2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (Or use a mild white onion and minced it)
2 tablespoons garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1 1/2 cups extra virgin olive oil

Steps:

  • Remove rind from cheese and cut into 1-inch chunks.

  • Place the cheese in a bowl and stir in onion and garlic.
  • Add oregano by rubbing it between your fingers to release the flavor.
  • Add black pepper and extra-virgin olive oil and mix well. (If using red pepper flakes, add them in this step.).
  • Cover and let stand 4 hours at room temperature.
  • Serve on crackers or rounds of bread.
