THE BEST GARLIC SHRIMP IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD

The Best Garlic Shrimp in the Whole Wide World image

Yes, almost the same as my other recipe but 100% better! A little change went a long way. It is the best, I promise! I have NEVER in my life had better shrimp. My whole family was in heaven. OK, enough tooting my own horn!

Provided by Dreamgoddess

Categories     Canadian

Time 25m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

25 -30 large shrimp, raw and peeled (or jumbo)
3 tablespoons chopped garlic, fresh (see tip) or 3 tablespoons from a jars (see tip)
1 cup fresh parsley, chopped
2 teaspoons paprika
fresh ground sea salt, to taste (see tip)
fresh ground pepper, to taste
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • In a large Ziplock freezer bag, mix everything except the butter and swish it around good to coat all of the shrimp. Or, mix everything in a large bowl and cover TIGHTLY with Saran wrap.
  • Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  • Preheat large heavy bottom pan with the butter in it on medium. Toss shrimp around for about 10 minutes until pink and lightly browned.
  • TIPS: Do not substitute with garlic powder OR dried parsley! Sea salt is stronger than table salt so use less than normal. Table salt can be substituted.
  • Serve with steak or pasta with a white sauce.
  • I KNOW THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO MY OTHER SHRIMP RECIPE, BUT I MADE IT THIS WAY TONIGHT AND IT WAS SO UNBELIEVABLE THAT I HAD TO POST IT! EVEN BETTER THAN MY OTHER SHRIMP RECIPE!

1 lb spaghetti noodles (more or less, depending on family size)
6 -8 garlic cloves, according to personal taste, minced

olive oil (3 drizzles)
italian seasoning
fresh ground pepper

  • While pasta is boiling, wash shrimp.
  • Melt butter over medium heat. Add shrimp.
  • Let cook till a little pink and starting to curl. Then add garlic.
  • Cook 5-7 min., add oil. Continue to stir till shrimp is pink and curled.

  • Keep tossing all ingredients around in skillet till all is incorporated and hot. Enjoy!

Steps:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and sprinkle with the seasonings. Cook undisturbed for 2 minutes, then flip and continue to cook until pink and fully opaque, around 1-2 minutes more. Set aside on a plate.
  • Heat the remaining oil in the same skillet. Sautee the onion and garlic for 3-4 minutes over medium heat.
  • Add the rice and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minutes.
  • Pour over two cupfuls of broth. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until most of the liquid has beed absorbed.
  • Once the liquid is reduced, repeat the cooking process, by adding a cup of broth at a time.
  • Once all the broth has been used, the rice should be plump and creamy. Remove from heat and stir in the parmesan and parsley.
  • Serve the risotto topped with cooked shrimp.

  • Whisk together honey, mirin, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and crushed red pepper in a small bowl. Place shrimp in a large bowl, and add 1/4 cup of the honey mixture; toss to coat. (Set aside remaining honey mixture at room temperature until ready to use.) Cover and let shrimp marinate in refrigerator at least 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.
  • Remove shrimp from marinade, letting excess drip back into bowl; discard marinade in bowl. Whisk water and cornstarch into remaining honey mixture in small bowl; set aside. Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil a large nonstick skillet over medium-high. Add half of the shrimp in an even layer; cook just until marinade around edges of shrimp starts to caramelize, 2 to 3 minutes, flipping shrimp halfway through cook time. Transfer shrimp to a plate; wipe skillet clean. Repeat process with remaining oil and shrimp (second batch will caramelize in 2 minutes).
  • Wipe skillet clean. Return cooked shrimp to skillet, and add cornstarch-honey mixture. Cook over medium, stirring constantly, until shrimp are cooked through and sauce is thick enough to coat a spoon but still pourable, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in lemon juice and 1/4 cup of the scallions. Season with salt to taste. Spoon shrimp mixture over cooked rice; sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup scallions, and serve with lemon wedges.
