Garlic Noodles with Beef and Broccoli is a quick and easy all-in-one bowl dinner recipe with a rich, buttery, salty, and sweet sauce.

4 Tbsp oyster sauce ($0.40)
3 Tbsp butter, divided ($0.30)
1 Tbsp soy sauce ($0.12)
3 Tbsp brown sugar ($0.12)
1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil* ($0.30)
1/2 lb. ground beef ($2.65)
4 cloves garlic ($0.32)
1/2 lb. frozen broccoli florets ($1.30)
8 oz. spaghetti ($0.55)
4 green onions ($0.40)
2 pinches crushed red pepper flakes ($0.05)

Steps:

  • Melt 2 Tbsp butter in a bowl (microwave for about 20 seconds) then add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir to combine, then set the sauce aside.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Once it reaches a boil, add the spaghetti and continue to boil until the spaghetti is tender (about 7 minutes). Drain the spaghetti in a colander.
  • While the spaghetti is cooking, begin the beef and broccoli. Add the remaining tablespoon butter to a large skillet and melt over medium heat. Add the ground beef and continue to cook over medium heat until the beef is cooked through (5-7 minutes). If you're using a higher fat content beef, drain the fat before moving onto the next step (I used 10% fat and there wasn't enough to drain).
  • While the beef is cooking, mince the garlic. Add the garlic to the skillet with the browned beef and continue to cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes more, or until the garlic has softened slightly.
  • Add the frozen broccoli florets to the skillet with the beef and garlic. Continue to sauté over medium heat just until the broccoli is no longer frozen. The broccoli will continue to cook in the next steps, so it does not need to be completely heated through at this point.
  • Finally, add the cooked and drained pasta and the prepared sauce to the skillet with the beef and broccoli. Continue to cook and stir until everything is combined, coated in sauce, and heated through.
  • Slice the green onions and sprinkle over top just before serving, along with a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes, if desired.

8 ounces wide rice noodles
3 cups broccoli florets
1 Tablespoon olive oil
8 ounce flank steak (sliced against the grain)
3 garlic cloves (minced)
8 ounce mushrooms (sliced)
¼ cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
2 Tablespoons hoisen sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Steps:

  • In a large pot with boiling water, cook the noodles according to package directions. Add the broccoli the last 5 minutes of cooking and let them cook until tender. Drain the noodles and broccoli.
  • While the pasta is cooking, add olive oil to a medium sized skillet. Cook the steak until no longer pink. Add the garlic, and mushrooms and cook for a minute more.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the brown sugar soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, ginger, red pepper, pepper and cornstarch.
  • Add the noodles to the skillet and pour the sauce on top and toss until incorporated.

120 g dried rice noodles
250 g lean beef, strips
2 teaspoons minced garlic
350 g broccoli, chopped
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/2 tablespoon cornflour
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Place the noodles in a large bowl and cover with boiling water.
  • Stand for 5 minutes
  • Separate with a fork and drain well.
  • Coat a pan with cooking spray.
  • Add the beef and stir-fry until browned and tender.
  • Remove from the pan.
  • Re-coat the pan with cooking spray, then add the garlic, broccoli and combined soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornflour, water, vinegar and sugar.
  • Cook, stirring, until mixture boils and thickens.
  • Stir in the beef and noodles.
  • Heat through.

1 lb round steak, thinly sliced
4 cloves garlic, chopped
2 teaspoons medium sherry (optional)
1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup lite olive oil (or other oil)
3/4 lb broccoli, cut into small flowerettes
1/4 cup chicken stock
4 green onions, cut into 1" lengths
1 1/2 cups small mushrooms, sliced
2 tablespoons soy sauce (or a bit more)
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Slice the steak very thinly, the easiest way to do this is to have it half frozen when you slice it.
  • Put sliced steak in a bowl with the sherry, soy sauce and the cornstarch, and a little salt, let it rest for 20 minutes.
  • Put 2 tbsp oil in a skillet.
  • Add garlic, stir fry for 1-2 minutes.
  • add mushrooms stir fry 2 minutes.
  • Remove and keep warm.
  • put 2 tbsp of oil in the skillet and stir fry the beef until nicely browned, remove and keep warm.
  • Add 1 tbsp oil and stir fry the green onions for 1 min, remove and keep warm.
  • Pour in the chicken stock, heat to bubbling add Broccoli cover and steam for 3- 4 minutes.
  • remove lid and put all the ingredient together.
  • Heat through but do not over cook.
  • Serve over rice or noodles.
