This is one of my new adopted recipes. I have added some of the things I love in a Bloody Mary. Enjoy!!

1 1/2 ounces vodka
3 ounces tomato juice
1 lemon, juice of
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 drops Tabasco sauce
pepper
salt
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 tablespoon prepared horseradish (optional)
green onions (optional) or pickled green bean, to garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Rub lemon or lime around rim of glass and then put the rim in margarita salt or Tony Chachers, if desired.
  • Add ice to glass.
  • Mix Vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, salt, Pepper, celery salt and horseradish (if using) and pour in glass.
  • Garnish with lemon or lime wedge, celery stalk, green onion or pickled green bean.

3/4 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 Vidalia onion, sliced
1 tablespoon minced garlic
4 large tomatoes, sliced
Red pepper flakes
Cracked black pepper
Kosher salt
1 cup chicken stock
1 teaspoon ground chicken bouillon
1 tablespoon sherry vinegar

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, add the olive oil.
  • Stir in the onion, garlic, tomatoes, red pepper flakes, black pepper and salt, to taste. Simmer for 10 to 12 minutes. Add the chicken stock and chicken bouillon and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Stir in the sherry at the last minute and remove from the heat. Allow to cool before adding it to a blender. Puree until smooth and return to the pot, over low heat, to keep warm until ready to serve.

4 cups ice
4 cups low-sodium spicy vegetable juice (recommended: V-8)
2 tablespoons freshly grated horseradish
2 tablespoons pickled okra juice, plus whole okra for garnish
2 tablespoons green olive juice, plus whole olives for garnish
2 tablespoons hot sauce, plus more for serving
1 1/2 cups good quality vodka, chilled
Pinch of smoked salt
Freshly ground black pepper
4 celery sticks, for garnish
Whole chives, for garnish

Steps:

  • Fill a large pitcher with the ice. Combine the vegetable juice, horseradish, okra juice, olive juice, hot sauce and vodka. Season with smoked salt and pepper. Fill 4 glasses with the juice. Garnish with a dash of hot sauce, 1 celery stick, some green olives, 1 piece of pickled okra and some chives. Sprinkle with smoked salt, if desired. Serve immediately.

MY BEST "ORIGINAL" BLOODY MARY



My Best

When the bloody mary cocktail was first invented it was originally made with gin. I used to drink them years ago with vodka and they were ok but I am not a big vodka lover except for Stoli ice cold. I had known of the original drink so I went back through food history archives and have created this "original" alternative to vodka. Even those who detest gin seem to love these. The gin doesn't taste like gin in these but gives a zippier flavor! I use the lower amount of gin usually as I don't like them to taste more like alcohol than a bloody mary. Just drink more of them or use the higher amount!! This is also great without the alcohol.

46 ounces tomato juice
3/4-1 1/4 cup gin
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1/4-1/3 cup lime juice
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce or 1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 tablespoon sweet paprika, very red and fresh
1 -2 teaspoon flaked salt, regular salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
fresh lime wedge
2 -3 celery ribs, processed finely (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix all of the ingredients together in a large pitcher except the celery and lime wedges. Add plenty of ice.
  • If you use the celery, process it very finely. Then take a clean piece of cloth or a dish towel and place celery in the middle. Wrap the cloth around the celery and squeeze, while twisting for the juice. Add the juice to the mix. I know this may seem time consuming though in my opinion the flavor is more fresh and appealing than using celery salt.
  • Garnish with lime wedges or any of the myriad garnishes you like for bloody mary's, sit back, relax and enjoy!

We just might be able to settle that debate. 1 1/2 lbs plum tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1 large carrot, peeled, coarsely chopped
1 large golden beet, peeled, coarsely chopped
1 small fennel bulb, trimmed, coarsely chopped
1 large garlic clove, chopped
1 bay leaf
1 tablespoon coarse kosher salt
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
6 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
1 tablespoon grated peeled fresh horseradish
2 teaspoons coarsely ground whole black peppercorns
1 teaspoon hot chili sauce (such as sriracha)
1/4 cup Guinness stout (optional)
3 cups vodka or 3 cups gin
ice cube
lime wedge
pickled vegetables (such as okra, green beans, or jalapenos)

Steps:

  • Place first 6 ingredients in large pot.
  • Add enough water just to cover (about 6 cups).
  • Bring to boil; reduce heat to medium and simmer uncovered until vegetables are very soft, about 50 minutes.
  • Discard bay leaf; add 1 tablespoon coarse salt and lemon juice; cool slightly.
  • Working in batches, puree vegetable mixture in blender until smooth.
  • Add enough water, if needed, to measure 8 cups.
  • Cover and chill.
  • Grind celery seeds with remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt in mortar with pestle or in spice grinder.
  • Add celery-seed salt, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, horseradish, black pepper, hot chili sauce, and Guinness, if desired, to vegetable puree.
  • Cover and chill Bloody Mary mix overnight.
  • Stir Bloody Mary mix and vodka or gin in large pitcher.
  • Fill tall glasses with ice.
  • Divide Bloody Mary among glasses.
  • Garnish with lime wedges and pickled vegetables.

True Wisconsin Bloody Mary image

This is my Wisconsin version of a classic Bloody Mary drink. On special occasions, garnish with skewered bite-size pieces of Wisconsin Cheddar, Monterey Jack, pepperoni, salami, green olives or cocktail shrimp on top. Best when consumed before noon.

4 ice cubes
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger vodka
3 pimento-stuffed green olives
1 tablespoon brine from olive jar
½ teaspoon celery salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
3 dashes Dash Worcestershire sauce
3 dashes hot pepper sauce (e.g. Texas Pete's™)
1 cup tomato and clam juice cocktail
1 stalk celery, with leaves

Steps:

  • Fill a large tumbler with ice cubes. Pour in the vodka, then drop in the olives and the olive brine. Season with celery salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and hot pepper sauce. Fill the remainder of the glass with tomato and clam juice cocktail. Stir with the celery stalk and leave it in as a garnish. Sprinkle with a little bit of celery salt before serving.

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup fresh tomato, chunks frozen
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, plus
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 dashes hot pepper sauce
1/4 cup vodka
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups ice cubes
fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  • If you don't have small ice cubes, place some large cubes in a baggie and crush with a rolling pin or hammer.
  • The smaller ice cubes do blend better.

  • Wash the potatoes. Add the potatoes to a large saucepan of salted water over medium heat. Bring to a boil and cook the potatoes until tender, about 10 to 12 minutes, Drain potatoes.
  • In a large bowl, toss together the potatoes, shallots, olive oil and salt and pepper, to taste. Add them to a quarter sheet pan and bake in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the potatoes from the oven, allow to cool and then smash.
  • Warm the cream, butter and garlic in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the smashed potatoes and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Stir to combine, then transfer the potato mixture to a serving bowl and garnish with chives.
