1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1 jar (14 ounces) pizza sauce
3 ounces sliced turkey pepperoni (about 50 slices), chopped
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
6 hamburger buns, split
6 tablespoons shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • In a large nonstick skillet, cook the beef, onion and pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink. Drain if necessary. Stir in the pizza sauce, pepperoni and herbs. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes., Spoon 2/3 cup beef mixture onto each bun; sprinkle with cheese. Place on a baking sheet. Broil 3-4 in. from the heat for 1 minute or until cheese is melted. Replace tops. Freeze option: Freeze cooled meat mixture in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a saucepan, stirring occasionally and adding a little water if necessary. Serve on buns.

1 cup CLASSICO Traditional Pizza Sauce
1/4 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 cup KRAFT Pizza Shredded Four Cheese
6 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Brown meat with vegetables in large skillet on medium heat; drain.
  • Add pizza sauce and Parmesan; simmer 3 to 4 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle with shredded cheese; cover. Cook 1 min. or until cheese is melted.
  • Serve in buns.

1 cup onion, yellow, sliced
10 ounces frozen chopped spinach, thawed and well-drained
1 cup fat-free ricotta cheese
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
2 slices fat-free American cheese, torn
1/4 cup fat free blue cheese dressing
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon table salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375ºF. Coat a 9-inch nonstick pie pan with cooking spray.
  • Coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray and set pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and sauté until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.
  • Transfer onions to a large bowl and add spinach, ricotta, cheddar cheese, American cheese, salad dressing, eggs, mustard, oregano, salt and black pepper. Mix until well blended. Spoon mixture into prepared pan and smooth top with back of a spoon. Sprinkle with grated cheese topping.
  • Bake until a knife inserted near center comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing into 6 pieces.

My Family's Favorite Sloppy Joes (Pizza Joes) image

I've tried many recipes, this is the best. I once 'dec-tupled' (10x) this recipe to sell sandwiches at a craft fair at my church. People were waiting in line to buy leftovers. Freezes well, goes up to the lake or camping well and is a hit on Halloween...it's no-fail. Easy to double, triple, etc. I've been making Joes this way for over 20 years. ***03-08-09, I just reinvented this recipe tonight when I went to make it for dinner and found I didn't have an 8-oz. can of tomato sauce (shame on me). The family was upset with me when I subbed an 8-oz. can of pizza sauce and told them to suck it up and call them 'Pizza Joes' and then served them up with shredded mozzarella cheese on the toasted buns, top and bottom. They loved it. I left out the BBQ sauce in this preparation and just used a 1/2 cup ketchup. Pizza Joes are good to go!

2 -3 stalks celery, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite, we use Open Pit)
1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
salt and pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown ground beef, celery and onion.
  • Drain the fat, who needs it?.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients, simmer covered, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • If Joes appear too'loose', leave cover off and let moisture evaporate.
  • Cook until it's the consistency you like for serving on toasted buns, with french fries and cole slaw.

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons shredded smoked gouda cheese
3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded Fontina cheese
1 -2 roma tomato, sliced into 1/8 inch rounds
3 ounces buffalo mozzarella (or fresh water-packed mozzarella, cut into 24 1-inch pieces)
1/2 cup shaved romano cheese
2 tablespoons slivered fresh basil

Steps:

  • preheat oven to 425.
  • prepare dough.
  • brush the surface of the the prepared dough with a thin application of olive oil.
  • evenly distribute the cheese over the oiled surface as follows: smoked gouda, mozzarella, fontina.
  • place tomato slices over the cheeses, spaced about 1 inch apart - do not overlap.
  • top the tomatoes with the pieces of buffalo mozzarella followed by the shaved romano.
  • transfer pizza to preheated oven, bake till crust is crisp and golden and center is bubbly, about 15 minutes.
  • remove pizza from oven, sprinkle with basil.
  • slice and serve.

2 cups Italian-style tomato sauce
2 -10 inches prepared pizza crust, prebaked
1/2 cup green onion, chopped
1 small green pepper, seeded, chopped
1 small yellow onion, diced
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat, add beef and cook, breaking up, for 5-10 minutes. Until no longer pink. Drain off fat.
  • Stir in yellow onion and peppers. cook 5 minutes.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Place 1 pizza crust on baking sheet, spread half of the meat sauce over crust.
  • sprinkle 1/2 of the green onion and 1/2 the cheese over top.
  • Bake for 20 - 25 mins, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Repeat with other crust.
