Easy Garlic Cabbage, A great-tasting side dish to go with your dinner. A very simple to make recipe of shredded cabbage and garlic, sauteed in a delicious sauce.

1/2 a medium white cabbage
4 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons of your favorite BBQ Sauce
1 Onion sliced, optional
A Handful of mushrooms Sliced, optional
salt & pepper

Steps:

  • Shred the cabbage
  • Heat a pan with a tablespoon of oil and add the cabbage and garlic. Stir and toss until cooked to your preference. I like mine a little crunchy so it only takes 6 - 7 minutes to cook. (add the mushrooms & onions at this stage too if using)
  • When your cabbage is soft enough, add your favourite BBQ Sauce and mix until the sauce is combined and heated through.
  • Season with salt & pepper if necessary. - You may not need to if your BBQ Sauce is seasoned nicely.
  • TOP TIP! Don't let your cabbage or garlic go brown or burn as this will give a bitter taste, if the pan is too hot, turn the heat down and add a splash of hot water!
  • Serve hot with anything you like! I have served this with a BBQ, some oven baked chicken, a roast dinner, the list is endless!

This recipe for easy garlic roasted cabbage comes together in no time at all and requires only five ingredients, most of which you probably already have in your kitchen! Serve it with your favorite lean protein and a side of roasted sweet potatoes for a healthy and satisfying meal.

1 head cabbage
2 tablespoons olive oil
5 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Combine olive oil and minced garlic in a small dish.
  • Slice cabbage into circles and then slice in half, keeping the core in tact to hold the slices together. Place onto a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray or lightly coated with olive oil.
  • Brush cabbage with olive oil mixture, season with garlic salt and pepper and place into oven. Roast for approximately 35-40 minutes, until cabbage is tender and edges begin to slightly brown.

1 medium cabbage
4 tbsp. plant based or regular butter (I used Country Crock® Plant Butter)
1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
2 tsp. taco seasoning * (or to taste)
1 1/2 tbsp. garlic powder (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Remove the bruised outer leaves from the cabbage. With a sharp knife, gently cut it into 1-inch-thick rounds.
  • Spread the softened butter on top of the cabbage rounds and season with salt, taco spice, and garlic powder.
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the cabbage rounds on the paper, seasoned side down. Now spread the butter on the top of the rounds again and sprinkle the seasonings on as well.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the cabbage rounds from the oven, flip them over carefully, and bake them again for another 15-20 minutes. When done, they should be nicely roasted and cooked through.

1 head green cabbage
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
2 -3 large garlic cloves, smashed
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400F and spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Pull outer leaf off cabbage (it's usually dirty and nasty looking), cut cabbage from top to bottom (bottom being root) into 1″ thick slices.
  • 2. Rub both sides of cabbage with smashed garlic.
  • 3. Use a pastry brush to evenly spread the olive oil over both sides of the cabbage slices.
  • 4. Finally, sprinkle each side with a bit of kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper.
  • 5. Roast on the middle rack for 30 minutes. Carefully flip the cabbage steaks and roast for an additional 30 minutes until edges are brown and crispy. Serve hot and Enjoy!
