CHOCOLATE PIZZA

Chocolate Pizza image

Provided by Giada De Laurentiis

Categories     dessert

Time 40m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 teaspoons butter, melted
1/4 cup chocolate-hazelnut spread (recommended: Nutella)
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons milk chocolate chips
2 tablespoons white chocolate chips
2 tablespoons chopped hazelnuts, toasted
1 pound homemade pizza dough, recipe follows, or purchased pizza dough
1/2 cup warm water (105 to 110 degrees F)
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for kneading
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons olive oil, plus more for bowl

Steps:

  • Position the oven rack on the bottom of the oven and preheat to 450 degrees F.
  • Line a heavy large baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the dough to a 9-inch-diameter round. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet. Using your fingers, make indentations all over the dough. Brush the dough with butter, then bake until the crust is crisp and pale golden brown, about 20 minutes. Immediately spread the chocolate-hazelnut spread over the pizza then sprinkle all the chocolate chips over. Bake just until the chocolate begins to melt, about 1 minute. Sprinkle the hazelnuts over the pizza. Cut into wedges and serve.
  • Pizza Dough:
  • Mix the warm water and yeast in a small bowl to blend. Let stand until the yeast dissolves, about 5 minutes. Mix the flour and salt in a food processor to blend. Blend in the oil. With the machine running, add the yeast mixture and blend just until the dough forms. Turn the dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, about 1 minute. Transfer the dough to a large oiled bowl and turn the dough to coat with the oil. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm draft-free area until the dough doubles in volume, about 1 hour. Punch the down dough and form into ball. The dough can be used immediately or stored airtight in the refrigerator for 1 day.

CHOCOLATE-CHIP COOKIE PIZZA

Chocolate-Chip Cookie Pizza image

You like chocolate chip cookies. You like pizza. What could be better than a giant chocolate chip pizza cookie? If your answer is, "pretty much nothing," we'd say you're 100% right. This Instagram-worthy treat starts with a batch of our famous chocolate chip cookie dough (with a smidge of cornstarch to keep the cookie soft and gooey in the center), but from there, it's all yours. When we took it out of the oven, we spread on cherry jam "pizza sauce," drizzled on melted white chocolate "mozzarella," and added rounds of raspberry fruit leather "pepperoni." But warmed Nutella and blobs of marshmallow fluff are a pretty awesome combination, too. We developed this recipe for a special print-only edition of The New York Times for Kids, but our sources tell us grown-up sweet tooths can't resist this oversized treat either. For a more sophisticated dinner party-worthy variation, leave off the toppings and serve generous wedges with scoops of vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce.

Time 1h

Yield 2 10-inch cookies or 1 sheet-pan pizza cookie

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 2/3 cups minus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
2 1/2 sticks (1 1/4 cups) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4 cups (10 ounces) light brown sugar
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons (8 ounces) granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons natural vanilla extract
1 pound bittersweet or semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Sift flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt into a large bowl. Set aside.
  • Using a mixer fitted with paddle attachment, cream butter and sugars together until very light, about 5 minutes, on medium-high. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla. Reduce speed to low, add dry ingredients and mix until the white streaks of flour just disappear, 5 to 10 seconds. Stir in chocolate chips.
  • For one large rectangular pizza, transfer the dough to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and flatten out with your fingers or a rubber spatula. For two cookies, divide the dough into two equal pieces on two separate sheet pans lined with parchment paper and flatten into the shape of a circle. Be sure to leave a border of at least 1 1/2 inches as cookie will spread.
  • Bake until golden brown but still soft, 18 to 25 minutes. Transfer sheet to a wire rack for 10 minutes. Top as desired (see note). Cut in wedges and serve.

MR. FOOD CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE PIZZA

Mr. Food Chocolate Chip Cookie Pizza image

I finally found this recipe after looking for it for years! I used to make this for my boys on their birthdays but switched to cinnamon rolls after I misplaced the recipe. I top it with re-whipped store bought frosting and mini m&m's. Printed in the winter 1998 issue of Mr. Food's Easycooking and posted here so I won't lose it again!

OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP PIZZA COOKIE

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Pizza Cookie image

From the moment in 1930 that restaurateur Ruth Wakefield invented the chocolate chip cookie - that's her iconic recipe on the back of the Nestle Toll House package - bakers have played with the proportions and fiddled with the formula. Including us - our 1957 riff on Wakefield's recipe calls for cornflakes, and the cookie here replaces a cup of the flour with oats to make the edge crisp yet keep the center chewy. Supersizing the cookie to pizza proportions is faster - and more fun - than dropping the dough by the spoonful. From Good Housekeeping.

GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE PIZZA

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie Pizza image

Make a delicious, GIANT chocolate chip cookie pizza as a sweet, unique gift for a birthday or other occasion! Recipe serves 12!

Provided by JB @ The Grateful Girl Cooks!

Categories     Dessert

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter (, room temp (1½ cubes))
3/4 cup brown sugar (, firmly packed (light or dark brown sugar is okay))
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 teaspoons vegetable shortening (, divided (1 for semi-sweet, 1 for white chocolate))
1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a pizza pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In medium bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt together. Set bowl aside.
  • Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together on medium speed until well combined (about 2 minutes). Add egg; beat for 1 minute on high. Add vanilla extract, and beat well to combine.
  • Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients. Slowly mix on low until they are fully combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  • Place the dough onto prepared pizza pan. Use a rubber spatula or your clean fingers to spread and flatten out the thick dough until the dough just about reaches the edges of pan.
  • Bake cookie for 22-25 minutes. When done, the cookie should be lightly browned on top. If you want crispy edges on the cookie, let it bake a couple minutes longer. When done, remove pan to a wire rack and let cookie cool (still on the pan).
  • Place semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips in two separate bowls. Add 1 teaspoon vegetable shortening to each bowl. Microwave each on high for 30 seconds. Stir until smooth. If necessary, heat additional 15 seconds, then stir, until smooth. Do not over cook as the chocolate can burn. Drizzle the chocolate over the cooled cookie in a decorative pattern. Let chocolate firm up on pizza before wrapping as a gift or slicing. For packaging, place cookie on parchment paper (cut to fit) and place cookie "pizza" inside a clean pizza box.
