I found this on a website. Sorry, I can't remember which one. I fixed it for a church potluck and came home with none.

6 tablespoons butter
1 cup self rising flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups boiling water

Steps:

  • Melt butter in 13x9 pan or dish at 350 degrees.
  • Combine flour, 3/4c sugar, pecans, 1-1/2T cocoa, milk and vanilla in a small bowl.
  • Spoon over melted butter.
  • DO NOT STIR.
  • Mix 1c sugar and the 1/4c cocoa together and sprinkle back and forth over the batter.
  • DO NOT STIR.
  • Pour boiling water over top.
  • DO NOT STIR.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min.
  • Cool somewhat.
  • Cover with hot fudge sauce and vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Steps:

  • In bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and the 2TBS cocoa.
  • Stir in milk and oil until smooth.
  • Pour into a greased 8in square baking pan.
  • Combine brown sugar and the 1/4 cup cocoa.
  • Sprinkle over batter.
  • Pour hot water over the top (do not stir).
  • Bake at 350* for 45 minutes or until cake springs back when touched.

1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons plus 1/4 cup baking cocoa, divided
1/2 cup whole milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup packed brown sugar
1-3/4 cups hot water
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and oil until smooth. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Combine the brown sugar and remaining cocoa; sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over top (do not stir). Bake at 350° until top of cake springs back when lightly touched, 40-45 minutes. Serve warm, with ice cream if desired.

6 tablespoons butter
1 cup self-rising flour
¾ cup white sugar
1 ½ tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup white sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ cups boiling water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Melt butter in an 8x8 inch baking dish while the oven preheats.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, 3/4 cup sugar, and 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Spoon this batter over the melted butter in the baking dish.
  • Stir together the remaining cup of sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the batter. Slowly pour boiling water over the top of the mixture.

1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
3/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups sugar
6 tablespoons cocoa powder
3/4 to 1 cup hot water
Cherry ice cream, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Pour the melted butter into a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, milk, vanilla and 1 1/2 cups of the sugar. Mix well and pour over the melted butter.
  • In another bowl, mix together the cocoa powder and remaining 1 cup sugar. Sift over the baking dish with the melted butter and flour mixture. Pour 3/4 to 1 cup of hot, hot water over top. Bake until firm on top but still gooey and chocolatey on the inside, 30 to 35 minutes.

3/4 cup white sugar
2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder (in addition to the previous amount)
1 3/4 cup hot water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350*F
  • In an ungreased 9" casserole dish add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Mix.
  • Pour milk, and vegetable oil over dry ingredients and mix.
  • In a small bowl combine 1 cup brown sugar and ¼ cup cocoa powder.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar mixture over the top of the cake - do not mix.
  • Pour hot water over the cake - do not mix.
  • Bake in the oven for 40 minutes.
  • Once the cake is done, remove from the oven and let it stand 15 minutes before serving.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream.

1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
3/4 cup(s) milk
CHOCOLATE LAYER
1 cup(s) sugar
6 tablespoon(s) cocoa powder
2 cup(s) boiling water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350. In a 9x13 glass baking dish, melt the two sticks of butter in the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile in a bowl, mix together the 1 1/4 cups of sugar, flour, vanilla, and milk.
  • Once the butter is melted, pour the batter over the butter, but do not stir.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa and remaining sugar.
  • Sprinkle cocoa/sugar mixture on top of batter. Do not stir.
  • Pour the 2 cups of boiling water on top of that (don't stir).
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes. I bake mine until I have a nice golden brown crust.
  • Serve warm. Great with ice cream.
