DEEP FRIED CANDY BARS
A Scotland favorite. Deep-fried candy bars such as Milky Way®, Snickers®, Mars® Bars, etc. We like Snickers® the best. A real treat! This recipe is my own variation. Enjoy!

- Dip the candy bars in the batter to coat.
- Carefully put coated candy bar into hot oil and fry until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes.

CHOCOLATE COATED DEEP FRIED TWINKIES
If you're a chocolate lover try dipping frozen Twinkies in chocolate candy coating and let the dry completely before dipping them into the batter. You can get as creative as you like with them. I like the just fried and nothing else on them. You can even make a glaze of powdered sugar and lemon juice for a fresh lemon taste!

Steps:
- Put Twinkies in the freezer the night before. Set up deep fryer and start heating the oil to 350. You can also use a pan on the stove, you want the oil to be about 4 to 5 inches deep and use a deep fry thermometer.
- Beat egg and milk together in a small bowl and set aside. In medium sized bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt and mix together with a wire whip. Slowly add milk, egg mixture to the flour mixture.
- Put lollypop sticks into the Twinkies lengthwise, leaving at least 2 inches sticking out to use as a handle.
- Now dip your Twinkie into the batter and cover completely allowing the excess batter to drip off. Drop directly into hot oil for about 3 minutes on each side.
- When the coating is golden brown on both sides remove and let drain on a paper towel. You can now sprinkle the with powdered sugar if you like or drizzle with chocolate or your choice of topping flavor. You can also use cinnamon and sugar to get a snickerdoodle like taste. Have fun and enjoy!
- For a fresh lemon taste, combine 1 cup powdered sugar, the zest of 1 lemon and the juice of 1 lemon. Then gently roll your drained fried Twinkie in the lemon glaze. Be as creative as you like with these!
DEEP FRIED TWINKIES - DEE DEE'S
A deep-fried Twinkie involves freezing the cake, dipping it into batter, and deep-frying it to create a variation on the traditional snack cake. Steps:
- 1. Freeze Twinkies several hours or overnight.
- 2. Heat 4 cups vegetable oil in deep fryer to about 375F.
- 3. For batter, mix together milk, vinegar and oil.
- 4. In another bowl, blend flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk wet ingredients into dry and continue mixing until smooth. Refrigerate while oil heats.
- 5. Push stick into Twinkie lengthwise, leaving about 2 inches to use as a handle. Dust with flour and dip into the batter. Rotate Twinkie until batter covers entire cake.
- 6. Place carefully in hot oil. The Twinkie will float, so hold it under oil with a utensil to ensure even browning. It should turn golden in 3 to 4 minutes. Depending on the size of your deep fryer, you might be able to fry only one at a time.
- 7. Remove the Twinkie and place on paper towel to drain. Remove stick and allow Twinkie to sit for about five minutes before serving. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
- 8. For berry sauce, heat preserves over low heat until melted. Add fresh or frozen mixed berries. Heat until sauce simmers. Cover and refrigerate until served.
