My sister gave me this recipe a few years ago and I make it all the time. It tastes so good, it's hard to believe it only takes about 5 minutes to put together!

1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast
2 (10 3/4 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
1 small onion, chopped (optional)
1 (8 count) package grand refrigerated biscuits

Steps:

  • Place chicken breasts in slow cooker.
  • Mix onions and soup and pour over chicken breasts.
  • Cook on high for 5 hours, or on low for about 8 hours.
  • About 45 minutes before you are going to eat, separate each biscuit into thirds and place on top of chicken mixture in crock pot.
  • Cook for about 45 minutes or until biscuits are no longer doughy.

2 tablespoons butter
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of chicken soup
1 onion, finely diced
2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough, torn into pieces

Steps:

  • Place the chicken, butter, soup, and onion in a slow cooker, and fill with enough water to cover.
  • Cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours on High. About 30 minutes before serving, place the torn biscuit dough in the slow cooker. Cook until the dough is no longer raw in the center.

Kid approved chicken & dumplings made in the crockpot, with easy ingredients to throw into the crockpot in the morning before work. My son says this is as good as his Grandma's, so it must be pretty good! Note: Prep time does not include cooking the chicken...use already prepared chicken.

1/4 cup onion, finely diced
2 cups water
2 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated low fat biscuits
1 chicken bouillon cube

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients, except biscuits, in slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low 5-6 hours.
  • 30 minutes before serving, tear biscuit dough into 1" pieces. Add to the slow cooker; stir gently.
  • Cover and cook on High for an additional 30 minutes or until biscuits are fluffed up and cooked through.

2 (8 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
1/2 medium onion, finely diced
2 cups water
1 chicken bouillon cube
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, cold
1/2 cup milk

Steps:

  • Combine all soup ingredients in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  • An hour before serving, turn crock to high and make dumplings.
  • Cut (combine with a pastry cutter or 2 knives or a fork) butter into sifted flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir milk in only until blended.
  • Drop by spoonfuls into your slow cooker; stirring gently so dumplings don't stick together.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for an additional 40 minutes or until biscuits are fluffed up and cooked through.

This is absolute comfort food here! This is a twist on an old favorite but with less hassle. Exceptional soup.

Number Of Ingredients 15

4 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (3 lb) roasting chickens, cut up
2 cups chicken broth
2 stalks celery
1 tablespoon minced parsley
2 carrots, peeled sliced
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt, to taste
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1 cup dry white wine (really adds a nice taste) (optional)
1 (8 ounce) can refrigerated biscuits
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons flour

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown onion in butter and oil just until tender, then brown chicken parts and place all in a 6-quart crock pot.
  • Add remaining ingredients except heavy cream, flour and biscuits. Cook on high 2-1/2 to 3 hours, or on low 5 to 7 hours.
  • When chicken is done, remove pieces to plate and let cool, then debone.
  • While chicken is cooling, mix flour and cream together, then stir into crock pot.
  • Open biscuits and cut each biscuit into 4 pieces. Drop into crock pot and turn on high. These will need to cook about 30 minutes, until they are firm.
  • Return chicken meat to crock pot after deboning and serve.

i use a 2 quart crock pot to make this dish for 2..i'm sure you can double or triple it and get good results.

2-4 - chicken thighs with bones, skin optional
1 large large carrot, 2" slices
1 stick(s) celery stalk, cut into 2" slices
5-10 - creamini mushrooms depending on size sliced 2" thick
1 tablespoon(s) dried thyme
5 tablespoon(s) flour blended with enough water to make a slurry
1-2 cup(s) water to cover leaving at least an inch of room for dumplings
DUMPLINGS
1 cup(s) flour
1 teaspoon(s) fresh or dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon(s) dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1/4 to 1/2 cup(s) broth from crock pot

Steps:

  • for the chicken stew put chicken thighs raw into pot, add vegetables and seasoning, and herbs..pls note i have not added SALT amts..i don't cook with salt, so i have no idea how much to use... add enough water to cover, leaving at least one inch for dumplings. take enough water out of crock pot to mix a slurry with the flour, and add to pot. cook on high for 4-6 hours, depending on how hot "high" is on your cooker..i use the 2 quart crock pot. the chicken will be falling off the bone, and shredding when you take it out..stir stew, put chicken back in.
  • dumplings mix all dry ingredients, then add enough broth from the pot to make a wet, sticky dough. if you have one, use a small ice cream scooper to dole out dumplings. if not, use a heaping teaspoon for each dumpling, in a ball, dropping into the stew, gently ladle hot stew sauce over each dumpling, to "set" it, and continue until all used, try to keep each dumpling separate. put cover back on, and coninue to cook for about 15 minutes, until dumplings swell to @X their size..they may lift the cover on the crock pot, that's ok. serve hot

1 (9 ounce) package frozen baby peas
1 1/2 cups baking mix
1/2 cup milk

Steps:

  • In a 3-4 quart crock pot, mix potato and carrots.
  • In medium bowl, combine chicken broth, flour and spices and blend well until smooth.
  • Pour over vegetables in crock pot.
  • Add chicken.
  • Cover crock pot.
  • Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours until chicken is thoroughly cooked and no longer pink in center.
  • Add peas and cover again.
  • Cook on HIGH for 20 minutes until peas are hot.
  • In small bowl, combine baking mix and milk and mix just until combined.
  • Do not over mix.
  • Drop by tablespoons onto hot chicken mixture in crock pot.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 20-25 minutes until dumplings are cooked through, are fluffy, and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
