- In a small bowl, soak cherries in hot water for at least 10 minutes., Meanwhile, in a large bowl, cream the shortening, butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, orange zest and vanilla. Combine the oats, flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips and cherries with liquid., Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 12-14 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute before removing from pans to wire racks.

CHERRY CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

Steps:
- Add room temperature butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar to a large mixing bowl. Mix with a hand mixer or the paddle attachment of a stand mixer. Mix until smooth and fluffy.
- Pour room temperature egg and vanilla extract into the bowl and mix again. Mix until a smooth mixture remains. Add flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder to the mixing bowl and mix once more.
- You should be left with a smooth, thick dough. Add chopped cherries and chocolate chunks to the bowl and mix in with a spatula. Pop the bowl into the fridge to chill for 20 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop out 2 tbsp of dough for each cookie and roll into a ball. Place on the baking sheet with space between each cookie.
- Bake at 350F for 20-22 minutes. Remove from the oven and cook on a cooling rack and enjoy!

DOUBLE CHOCOLATE CHERRY COOKIES

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Combine flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda in a bowl. In a bowl of an electric mixer, or with a handheld mixer, combine butter and sugars until fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and wine and combine. Slowly in batches add the flour mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate and cherries. On a nonstick cookie sheet, place a heaping tablespoon of dough for each cookie about 2 inches apart from each other. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until tops are still soft looking but edges look firm.

- Beat the butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until fluffy. Add the vanilla and egg and beat to combine.

- Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a medium sized bowl and set aside.
- 2. Cream the butter and sugars together in a large mixer bowl on medium speed until light in color and fluffy. You should be able to see the change in color and texture happen and know it's ready.

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease baking sheets. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

- Preheat the oven to 350º F.
- In a mixing bowl beat the butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer for 1 minute, or until combined. Add in the egg and extracts, beat again.
- Add in a small amount of pink gel food coloring and mix.
- In separate small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing by hand with a spatula.
- Add in the finely chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips, mix by hand until combined. The batter will be thick.

- First, prepare 2 cookie sheets by lining them with wax paper or parchment paper.
