A cheesy steamed rice cake

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
⅛ tsp salt
½ cup water
1 small can (154 ml) evaporated milk
3 pcs raw egg
¼ cup cheddar cheese (grated)
cheddar cheese strips (toppings)

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, add-in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt (dry ingredients). Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, pour-in the water, evaporated milk, and eggs (wet ingredients). Mix well.
  • Carefully pour-in the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and add-in the grated cheese. Mix until well-incorporated.
  • Prepare individual puto molds (plastic molds) and brush with melted butter or cooking oil.
  • Pour-in the puto mixture into the puto molds until ¾ full. Top each with a cheddar cheese strip
  • Arrange the puto molds in a steamer. Steam for 8 to 10 minutes. Wrap the steamer lid with a tower or a cloth to avoid water from dripping.
  • Let cool and remove the puto molds. Transfer to a serving plate or serving tray. Serve and enjoy!

1 cup flour
1/2 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup warm water
4 tablespoons evaporated milk
1 tablespoon butter ( softened)
1 large egg (use only the egg whites)
12 slices of cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, mix all the dry ingredients: cake flour, sugar, and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, mix all the wet ingredients: warm water, evaporated milk, butter, egg white.
  • Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture. Beating till mixture is void of any lumps.
  • Prepare the molds. Grease each mold with butter before adding the batter.
  • Add the cheese to the top.
  • Prepare the steamer. The water should be boiling before adding the Puto molds.
  • Place a towel before the steamer's cover to prevent water droplets from hitting the batter. Steam for 8-11 minutes or until the batter rises.
  • Cool for 5 minutes and serve.

Cheese Puto are soft, fluffy, and extra delicious with pockets of cheese! These Filipino steamed cakes are easy to make and fun to eat; delicious on their own or served with dinuguan or pancit.

1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
3 eggs
6 ounces evaporated milk
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup cheddar cheese. shredded

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking powder. Mix well.
  • Add eggs on at a time and using an electric mixer, beat after each addition.
  • Add milk and beat until smooth.
  • Add water and continue to beat until batter is thin and smooth.
  • Add butter and vanilla extract. Stir until well blended.
  • Add 3/4 of the cheese and stir until combined.
  • Fill molds with batter up to 3/4 full. Arrange molds in a single layer on steamer rack and place over steamer.
  • Steam for about 8 to 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Turn off heat and top each puto with the remaining 1/4 cup of cheese. Cover for about 1 minute to allow the residual heat to melt cheese.
  • Allow to slightly cool before removing from molds.

1 cup Sugar
2 tbsp Baking powder
3 pcs Eggs
1 cup Evaporated milk
1 cup Water
2 tbsps Butter, melted
¼ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
½ tsp. of food color (optional)
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 tsp. of Salt
small slices of cheese (for topping)
Molding Cups and paper liner

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, put the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix well. Then set aside.
  • In the other mixing bowl, put the eggs, milk, water, and vanilla. Mix well. Then set aside
  • Pour the mixture milk into the dry ingredients gradually.Mix well.
  • Add the shredded cheese.
  • Add food color to a better and colorful puto. But it is optional. Then set aside.
  • Brush off oil in each cup or use cupcakes wrapper. Then fill each molder cup of puto mixture.
  • Place them in the steamer properly. Steam for about 8-10 minutes.
  • After 8 minutes put the slices of cheese on top of each puto and steam again for another 2 minutes.
  • Before off the fire check the puto if it is already cooked.
  • Let them cool down then remove the cooked puto from the molder cups.
  • Serve and enjoy your puto cheese!

4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
6 eggs
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
1 ½ cups water
2 ¼ cups Edam cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Grease small cake, puto molds, or ramekins for use in a steamer. Mix the flour, sugar, and baking powder together in a bowl. In a separate, large bowl, scramble the eggs with the evaporated milk and water. Fold the dry mixture into the eggs until evenly blended. Fill the prepared molds 2/3 of the way up with the batter and top with shredded cheese.
  • Fill a wok or a sauce pan that will hold a steamer basket with a few inches of water. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Place the molds into a steamer basket and place over the boiling water and cover.
  • Steam until a toothpick inserted in the center of one of the putos comes out clean, about 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack and serve warm or at room temperature.
