In the game forum I tagged recipes for Bisquick mix and also beef stew that required dumplings. This is the original dumpling recipe from BettyCrocker.com that I will be using.

2 cups Bisquick baking mix
2/3 cup milk

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl add Bisquick mix and milk stirring until a soft dough forms.
  • Drop mixture by spoonfuls onto boiling stew and reduce heat.
  • Cook dumplings uncovered for 10 minutes. Cover pot and cook an additional 10 minutes. Serve immediately.

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto your stew or chicken/beef and dumplings.
  • With the pot uncovered, cook the dumplings for 10 minutes over low heat.
  • Cover the pot and cook for another 10 minutes. If the soup gets too thick, just add more liquid.
  • Enjoy!

Steps:

  • Stir together the milk and Bisquick baking mix in a bowl just until a soft dough forms. Don't mix your dumpling batter for more than two minutes.
  • Get your Dutch oven pot of stew boiling to a rolling simmer.
  • Drop your dough by the spoonful into your pot of chicken and dumplings, boiling broth, or other stews and soups.
  • Reduce the heat to low.
  • Leave the pot uncovered and allow your dumplings to cook over low heat for 10 minutes. Don't stir the dumplings.
  • Cover the pot and allow your dumplings to cook for 10 more minutes. Don't stir the dumplings.

1 cup Bisquick
1 teaspoon dried herbs (i used onion and garlic powders, dill, and chipotle pepper. next time think will try with black pepp) or 1 tablespoon fresh herb, of your choice (i used onion and garlic powders, dill, and chipotle pepper. next time think will try with black pepp)
1/3 cup low-fat cheddar cheese, shredded
salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup 1% low-fat milk, enough to make a floppy doughbatter
3 -4 cups soup, of your choice. (tried with mushroom and they don't really puff. next time will make in a tomato or chicken soup)

Steps:

  • stir herbs and cheese with bisquick
  • add milk and mix till right consistency (somewhere between biscuit dough and pancake batter), try not to overbeat.
  • bring desired soup to boiling (cream soups wont like this so maybe add dumplings before milk products?) and drop small spoonfuls of batter on top. remember they will expand during cooking. if you leave a few seconds between additions they wont stick together as badly.
  • cover for ten min to let dumplings cook, ta da!

4 chicken legs
4 chicken wings (remove wing tips)
1 (15 ounce) can chicken broth
1 small parsnip, peeled and thinly sliced
2 small carrots, peeled and thinly sliced
1 celery rib, thinly sliced
1/2 small onion, peeled and diced
1/2 cup frozen peas
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
salt and pepper, to taste
parsley flakes, for garnish
2 cups Bisquick
2/3 cup 10% cream
2 cups egg noodles

Steps:

  • In a large soup pot, put chicken pieces, broth, parsnips, carrots, celery, onions and salt and pepper. Add water to cover chicken, if necessary.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour. Add frozen peas.
  • Mix Bisquick and cream together. Drop by spoonfuls onto boiling soup. Reduce heat, cook for 10 minutes, uncovered. Cover and cook 10 minutes more or until dumplings are done.
  • Meanwhile, cook 2 cups egg noodles in boiling, salted water 8-10 minutes or to desired doneness. Drain.
  • Remove dumplings to a plate with a slotted spoon. In each soup bowl, place some of the noodles. Top with 2 pieces of the chicken and some of the soup. Add 2 dumplings to each bowl and garnish with parsley, if desired.

4 cups chicken broth
1 tablespoon fresh parsley
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leave
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 lb frozen mixed vegetables, thawed and drained
1 cup Bisquick baking mix
1/3 cup milk

Steps:

  • Bring to a boil all of the ingredients except the Bisquick and milk in a 3 quart saucepan.
  • Mix the Bisquick and milk until soft dough forms. Drop dough by the teaspoonful into the boiling soup. If the dumplings sink, bring them back up to the top with a slotted spoon so they don't end up crushed.
  • Reduce heat to low and cook uncovered 10 minutes. Cover and cook another 10 minutes.

1/2 packet soup stock
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon butter or 1 teaspoon margarine, very soft
1/2 cup flour

Steps:

  • Mix ingredients together, add enough flour to make it the consistency of thick ketchup.
  • To make dumplings, dip a spoon into soup that is softly boiling for a second.
  • Then scoop a small amount of dumpling and dunk it in the soup.
  • The dumpling will immediately fall off the spoon and plump up.
  • Repeat until dumpling mix is gone.
  • Cook in a stock, and throw in some vegetables.
  • Suggested: chicken stock with celery, lots of carrots, some onion, and a bit of rosemary.
